Brainstorming for an Event
Tactical Gamer is awesome and the Insurgency World Series is creating even more hype about the community. The epic battles between In house Regulars and Irregulars that come to TG for an epic experience is growing. In the past, we have had C&C password nights and Internal scrims that feature some of the best action we have seen. The fact that they are organized and that due to the Teamspeak participation, battles turn out to be really fun. So anyone want to encore? Post here if you have any ideas for events such as this and maybe we can see if the "fathers" of TG can answer them. ^^

Here's mine...
Its been done before but I was thinking about a hostage rescue operation for insurgency on an urban map. The objective would to rescue a few pilots from the wrath of the insurgent warlords. They would be held in a complex and defense would be entirely up the the insurgents. There could be time limits etc. First the blufor team would have to acquire intel of the hostile position. Or vica versa where insurgents could launch ops to capture US pilots or recover their own civilians. Helicopters and convoys could be used to escort or extract and teamwork and coordination would be promoted to accomplish the mission. You could imagine a tactical assault on a complex with roping into buildings and sharpshooter recon and support. Then the battle to escort the rescued hostages to safety would be epic as well.

Re: Brainstorming for an Event
Some sort of Siege, Give MEC / US marines 30 minutes to set up a few firebases with all the defense they want around, lets say north village, Plant a objective in the middle. A shot down heli you must secure or a pilot. And let the siege begin.
I think tanks / apc's are too well armed and could break the defenses to soon. But .50 call humvee's / jeeps should be alright. Maybe unarmed little birds for extraction/ insertion.

Re: Brainstorming for an Event
for the hostage rescue thing, best maps would be ramiel, basrah, Muttrah, or even kozelsk could work (TUNNELS!! and chechnya can use technicals). hostage-takers could shoot hostage if hostage leaves certain building/complex as agreed upon by COs/admin. hostage player cannot try to escape, cannot be on TS or communicate with rescue team in any way until rescued (he would then join a squad).
Mumble usage would make this an absolute blast...
Hostage takers can execute hostage after 1 hour, adding a sense of urgency. kinda.
rescue team can use any air assets including CAS helis if available, jeeps and trucks, but absolutely no armor.
opfor team can use jeeps and trucks, no armor.
rescue team wins when pilot enters main.
probably getting ahead of myself here, i know the admins/usual scrim organizers are busy with insurgency world series right now.

Re: Brainstorming for an Event
Great idea...would be a good idea to put on the PR forums-new game mode for 0.9 (or whatever) Only problem would be that it would suck being a hostage, being stuck in a room for 30min + would get old-very quickly.
On the other hand...I don't think this would ever get old =)

Re: Brainstorming for an Event
stealing your dirtbike idea, how bout we have a "Dirt Bike Motor-cross Survivor Series with Judge Firing Line"?
2 bikers compete with 2 teammates for best stunt: 2 guys on each team help assist their biker perform a series of 3 tricks. After each trick, both teams are judged by a teamspeak panel who are in game watching from the side. The losing team has a member "eliminated" after each trick, making it harder to perform the next stunts with fewer and fewer teammates. The biker is the last one eliminated...last man standing wins.
we could also do video submissions for best stunt and just bypass all the killing...

Re: Brainstorming for an Event
actually im all for the dirtbike races!
except
has it ever been tried with TWO players, kinda like mario kart
one in the back seat with a rifle/weapon (or manning the .50 on a jeep) so racers can defend against MEC ambushers.
why not take 30 seconds off of a team's race time if they kill an ambusher.
or...
HOSTAGE DIRT BIKE RACE RESCUES!!!
hostage(s) in the NV on kashan training. winner is the player who brings back the most hostages. lives unlimited. hostages can be armed, but cannot leave NV cap zone.
