Re: Angry Squad Leaders

I admit, I get angry all the time as an SL, but I try to keep my cool. However, the wrath I experience is not by insubordinate squad members, it's when something like my entire squad getting run over by a truck happens. I guess I'm a bit of a sore loser. If there's a difficult situation, deal with it to the best of your ability and move on. Berlancic made a really good point in saying that we are here to have fun. People like myself ought to be less worried about winning and more focused on the squad-based enjoyment of the game. This thread is a great thing to keep in mind. Thanks for reminding us Berlancic!

That being said, I'd like to apologize to my squad on basrah last night.

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

Things that will get me po'd instantly:

1) Not following orders
2) Joining my squad, not asking what the squad needs and grabbing a sniper kit
3) Second-guessing every move I make

These are common-sense items for any competent PR player, so I guess I'm essentially labeling those that do this as incompetent, aren't I?

Oh well, if the shoe fits...

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

I'd like to see more regulars squad lead, that way some of the daily squad leaders can take a break.

Also with my experience of becoming frustrated when I SL comes from the points that d1spo listed as well as players using in-game commands when asked not to, giving up right away when asked not to, auto punishing, mic spam, and a few others.....if you think your sl is getting a little heated, ask the squad to chill out,or better yet next round be a squad leader rather than depending on someone else to do it.

Also keep in mind of the squad that you join, if it says Defense, don't ask "why are we not attacking" if you don't understand a name of a custom squad which you join ask for clarification, and always ask the SL what kit he needs upon joining/spawning in, if he hasn't already assigned you something.

Usually the SL becomes frustrated from a number of different things, it doesn't have to be due to RL.

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

But... I love angry squad leaders! They generally make some pretty funny comments, they motivate the squad, and they make you feel like you have a better chance surviving the enemy than not following orders.

I'm always an angry SL... I just try to direct that anger at the enemy in the form of superior firepower.

somerset,
back on topic

what bothers me more than sm's not following orders/grabbing sniper kits/spamming/etc is having an SL that doesn't get angry enough and lets his squadmembers do whatever they want.

I absolutely hate when people start grabbing APC's, Tanks etc... or asking if they can when they are in infantry squad.

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

Listen... If you are a "Squad Leader", then those below you know that if you do not listen you are subject to ridicule. Now, 'ridicule' is a term used vaguely to express some remark that may say "Hey, we are here, where are you supposed to be"? I have played with many of the qwazi squads here and I know where I stand when I play with them. DO NOT Join a squad and expect to be lone wolf, if so, make your own. I have heard some pretty intelligent ideas come from those who are non-military types in here and they lead and listen very well. If you take offense to some remarks then leave and join your OWN squad and have at it. LISTEN, MOVE WHERE AND WHEN YOUR TOLD, GIVE GOOD INTEL AND PLEASE KEEP THE CHATTER DOWN AND HAVE FUN!

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

I intend to get angry on people in my squad from time to time and it has nothing to do with what mood im in. Its just, If I repentantly have to give the same correction or If you compromise my squad in anyway - I get angry ! ...take it or leve it.

Im just saying this so people dont mix up "im-in-a-bad-mood anger" with other forms of anger.

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

I try to be as cordial as possible, but there are always days where I lose my temper easily. Especially when people aren't listening to me, the team's not communicating with each-other, or I'm getting my butt handed to me round after round.

I don't think you've seen the pictures of Disposable and Cougar though...

Cougar is on the right. Has anyone noticed his chin looks like someone's butt?

Re: Angry Squad Leaders

After hearing the explanation of the anger I experienced under a certain SL in this thread, I have decided to not avoid his squads anymore. (Although, calling all of us idiots for dying after 1 person made a mistake was a bit much)
