Re: Seeding
Gameplay has been degraded, thanks to EA. Even today, I couldn't play a full round, I could not be stuffed. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces on the server. I guess I'm being to judgemental, but what I've observed is that there are more vanilla people who I'm unfamiliar with than Project reality unfamiliar people, if you get what I mean.

Re: Seeding
In my opinion its not a bigger number of newbs degrading the overall gameplay but the lack of vets who are willing to squad lead them.
p.s. I am not showing fingers at anyone here

Re: Seeding
Now now, we all know the reason for the server not seeding. it's because I haven't been playing for a while. When I'm in my new flat I will start playing again and the server will be back at 62 every night
:P

Re: Seeding
Well Im more than willing to SL, but I find it hard to communicate between squads. Allot of players are not on TS or on mumble it makes it very hard to get organized. Only when the server runs full with more "Vets" communication gets going.

Re: Seeding
Factors:-
- Lack of regulars willing to squad lead, preferring to join squads of other SL's they know
- Influx of new players that don't want to play tactically leading to a polarisation on the server between tactical and non-tactical players.
- Regulars becoming more insular, mixing less with new players, which in turn contributes to the downturn in quality of gameplay and rule adherence. If the regulars aren't willing to show people the ropes how are the new players going to learn.
- Increase in number of IHS's leading to more players having a regular group they like to play with, again less mixing of 'old and new' as it were. Increase in number of new IHS players not prepared to squad lead public players at any point.
- Increase of locked squads with 2-3 regulars, not prepared to open squad up to give new players a spot and a bit of leadership and help.
- Regulars flouting behaviour rules/standards leading to a degeneration of behaviour on the server, increasing the polarisation (ie spaming all chat, language etc same players every day that do it to excess).
- Increase in popularity of other servers
- RL issues to a degree but these have always been a factor and the server used to be very busy round the clock.
- Boredom with the maps...Kashan, how many versions has that borefest been around for and it still gets overplayed lol
Now some of these things we can affect some we can't. I know simply by typing this list I have given myself a few ideas about what I can do different on the server to hopefully contribute, perhaps others can do the same.

Re: Seeding
I think we should support one man squad locks, so that everyone can SL and be cool and mysterious and then everyone will want to squadlead and have that kind of power.
This comment is not even CLOSE to serious.

At the start of the map, make 9 2-man locked squads, officer and AR.
Yeah, I don't really have much time to play at all now that school has really started. Lots and lots of homework and extracurricular activities. I haven't even been able to show up on weekends for more than an hour at a time, occasionally I will try to remember to hop on the server and camp when I get home from school (1500-1700 EST) if there's nobody on, but I probably won't be able to actually play.

True I should remember never to say that again (although the other squad positioned themselves better so it is still true...jus not for our squad at that moment )..... It was a very good round and we had a very good kill/dead ratio!
We seeded from 4 people to 54 yeah!

Re: Seeding
From a new to PR player’s point of view, playing with a competent SL makes or breaks the fun factor and is what keeps me coming back. I have no problem following the SLs orders and welcome them as I am not familiar with most of the maps, or weapons (still in the learning curve from BF2). Personally, the biggest draw to PR is the teamwork, which is lacking in pretty much all of the other BF2 mods that are still viable. When playing with a patient SL, who is willing to give directions and answer questions, the game play is excellent and highly enjoyable, win or lose. I hate joining the server when I see a bunch of not full, locked squads with good SLs and I get stuck playing with an incompetent SL who will run around in circles, never to accomplish anything or help the team in any way shape or form.
A big THANK YOU to the SLs who have done their jobs in directing their squads and have helped to make the rounds enjoyable, it has been tons of fun! I may not have the insight, as of yet, to know where to go or what to do, but with a little direction, I am more than happy to follow orders and help my team in any way I can.
