Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
Yeah the torrent's pretty healthy right now. I'm pulling at ~450-500 kbps at the moment.

And I prefer Azureus as my bittorrent client, but that's just me.

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
The file you downloaded is a map of the larger file, spliting the larger file into many many parts.
Download and install one of the bit-torrent management programmes, prj reality recommend two.
Now double click on the small file you downloaded and the torrent will start
As soon as you download a bit then you being to share it out....clever
I've only just got into bit-torrent....my brother says its the biggest thing around and that I'm behind the times
EDIT
Sat 8pm
|TG-Irr|Sam_Hoy is on the server, all on his own for the moment

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
With Azureus installed, go back to the Project Reality page and click on the link for the torrent. Azureus is a program that recognizes what to do with those torrent files, and should open up automatically when you click on that link. It may take a little while to connect to other peers, but it should be obvious once you're connected - you'll see the filename in the applicatioin and download progress/speed/time remaining like other peer to peer apps.
In other apps, you search in the application (like Kazaa) for other files. With torrent files, they're "hosted" on web pages, and clicking on those links connects you to other people that have clicked on the link and are sharing the file.
Hope that's not too confusing - check the wiki entry on Bittorrent for a little more detailed explanation.-F- Beatnik

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
I don't use torrents so that's why I wanted to get it from here because I always get good speeds off of TG's servers. What kind of speeds are you guys getting from the torrent? What's the simplest bittorrent program to use? Azureus? Ahhh...too many questions, not enough beer. My head hurts....

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
Azureus is a pretty intuitive program, yes. It allows for the management of multiple torrents, and if necessary selecting certain files in a file to not download if you wish.
Like I said the download speed pretty much saturated my downstream bandwidth, so the torrent is very healthy at the moment. It took me about 2 hours to d/l 1.7 gigs. Not bad.

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
Is that quartermaster system bugged? As soon as I click on the commo rose for a request for a support kit, I get a connection lost message and I get kicked from the server.

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
I played on two or three servers and experienced connection drops on all of them. I think it may have something to do with the mod itself. Over atr prmm I read that they had some issues just before release so I expect there may be a hot fix sometime soon. eggmans pretty fanatical about getting that mod right.
So whats the concensus on this mod? I was pretty pleased and pretty annoyed at the same time (might be learning curve)

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
Tonight was my first time with the mod and I was very impressed, except for the AAS mode when the server population got over about 16-20 people. Then it was murder. We had literally 50 people trying to fight over a flag (I'll let you guess if the assaulting or defending team had a better time with that). Except for that, the maps were beautiful, the kits were cool, and the server filled up quick.
If you do log in to our server, make sure to reach out to new faces and point them to our forums (and the Tac Mod/POE2/2142). I couldn't believe how quick the server filled up tonight. This mod definitely looks to have some legs here at TG, and it seems like a natural fit. If we get a critical mass of vets on that should really elevate the mod to a new level.-F- Beatnik

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
well I wasn't on long enough to make a solid statement about it but the one positive note that I will complement now is the maps, I really liked the new maps. I really think there is a lot of potential here at the same time in the next couple days to come I think the server could stand a couple of changes other than just the AAS mode

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
Bit torrent help needed
I have downloaded the mod "pr_0406_setup" it is 1.6Gb, using uTorrent
The file type is not recognised when I double click from windows explorer
Do I have to close it off or something in utorrent so that it then becomes a file I can execute ?

Re: Project Reality Mod due out Nov 11th
We need to ditch the AAS mode. I was wondering why we only had that one flag on Muttrah City. It's pretty messy when you have everyone fighting over one flag. I only played the last half of Muttrah City and a few minutes of Steel Thunder and so far it seems like it would be awesome to play here at TG.

Exploding, since you are an SM, worst case grab a fresh download from the Members Download section. I downloaded and installed from that section this morning with no problem.
