Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi, I'm familiar to the Battlefield Series(Bad Company, 360) but I am new to PR and the PC controls. I'm really looking to getting into squad tactics(plus some insurgent action) while still having fun. From the videos and forums I read, Tactical Gamer looks great and I want to be apart of it.

NOTE: One of the things that drew me to Battlefield 2(and PR) were the jets. Ironically, they are my worst field. I can fly across the map in a heli without crashing but can't even get off the ground in a A10.....maybe someday.

Re: Introduce Yourself

egokillar checking in Played PR since 0.2, love the teamwork aspect of the game. I'd like to state that my name can confuse people, I'm not an "egoistic killer", I just hate people going off alone to do their own thing, wich I'm sure the rest of this community does Therefore I'll donate a few $.

Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Welcome to the forums Ali Baaba.

Make sure you read the guide that comes with PR as it contains a lot of info and don't forget to read through the TG rules (link can be found in my sig or in the stickies).

There is a video on Youtube that explains the basics of flying jets. Search for 'Project Reality Flight Training' on Youtube and you should find it. Can't give you the link right now cause I 'm at work and Youtube is blocked.

Enjoy your stay and see you ingame.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello there TG, FoxWolf here.

I haven't been playing some time now and I hope I can get back into the action.

I have read the SOP's and rules again, and I'm still strugling a bit with contact reports. The radio check and such are okay, but some squad leaders don't reply usualy.

I'm very bad at squad leading and I'm very nervous if I have to. I tried it on another server and we held good until we got overrun in a house. I am better suited as a squad member, I really don't have the necesary confidence or knowledge to be a squad leader yet.

Mostly I am good as a medic or specialist, since I like to keep the team alive and at good health. I think I am pretty good at discerning friend from foe, since from when I came back again I don't recall that I had any TK's. (yes kiddies, it's great to listen to contact reports and maintain situational awareness with your team.)

I Would like to as well appologize for a incident yesterday in Falujah, where I was in a voip squad with a TG member(he wasn't the SL though). My squad leader told me to go with a team mate NW to give a SITREP on OPFOR bunkered on the roof or flank them with a teammate. Suddenly my fellow squadie was gone and bunkered on the roof with my other teammates and I ran around the streets with large ammounts of luck on my side, trying to uphold my previous objective (if I heard it right that is), I checked that roof and got promptly shot at, While escaping I did eliminate a insurgent behind a wall. While my guys were on the roof I was running around the streets like a crazy man, looked funny from my side. Again I appologize. I didn't either understand the order or misheard to return back.

And yes I talk a lot, sorry about that. I try to uphold to the SOP's but sometimes I think people are more anoyed by my contact reports then acknowledged and gameplay get's frustrating. Yes I can get frustrated a lot these days.

Hope to see more of you, and yes, are PR nights still up and does TGU still host some training?

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello guys,

I am a PR noob after becoming sick with all the VBF behavoir.
I have played a few times on your servers as ploddit and ploddithanley I once found myself in a squad with a guy who's leadership was incredible.
I enjoy hugely the game but as a noob it is very difficult to get going - I read as much as time allows here and on the PR forums, and of course I do have and use a mike.
I always get medic as that seems a good way to get going and a useful class which seems to be lacking, now i have worked out how to use the epipen i even saved a few squad members!
I am upset that the PR Wiki is still down and has been since I started playing PR I have so many questions that the Wiki would hopefully answer.
I always enjoyed being commander on VBF and eventually I would like to try to command on PR, of course I read earnestly the threads on 'what to you want from a commander' but i must get some more 'grunt' map experience before i try to command.
I do beleive that PR does have a problem with new playersn as it is very hard to learn and the a bad player is noticed very quickly as the 'community' is quite small.
If only there where more training or help available as the training maps are only good for the very basics of kits and driving/flying with idiots raping the infantry training areas in A10s all the time.
Last night on your server (Kashan) i was in a squad, I don't think we did anything useful for our team (MEC) but still worked well as a squad and always important I enjoyed myself nonetheless (even though bizzarly our truck seemed to have chechan supply crates on board so useless for us).
Thats about it for the moment just to say thanks to all the guys who have helped with advice and guidance ingame.
If I see you on the field be nice, yes I am a noob, but i am trying as hard as i can to develop quickly!

Most answers can be found in the guide that comes with the installer (PDF file which is put on the desktop after installing). Make sure you read all the info in there and you should be good to go, also don't be afraid to ask something ingame, most people will be happy to answer your questions.

Welcome to PR and TG.

PS: WIKI might be under construction for PR 0.86, I 've been trying to access it myself a couple of times this week.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Thanks for your replies guys!
Oh yes the PDF sits next to me at the minute when playing but the detail is lacking, ex. until someone told me that when reviving the 'patient' must fill the screen i could never epipen guys!
I was in the little MEC APC tank thing and no one could answer what the fire 1 weapon M919 was used for....even two TG guys in squad!
I just wonder how many players are put off by all the stress at the beginning I am worried that the PR community is loosing alot of players because of that, at one point I wanted to quit but on returning to VBF with grenade spamming and bunny hoppers I did one round and stopped to perseviere with PR.
I do my best to help guys more noob than me when i meet them.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello,
I've played PR off and on since summer 2007, recently under the user name JackFarrell, an account which I've co-opted from my college roommate. TG is by FAR my favorite server, and I've mastered the requisite "clicking skills" needed to get into TG when it's at 61/64 players.

I recognize a lot of names on this forum from ingame. What happened to your TG password nights? Havn't seen one of those in awhile, and I believe that's what made me register on these forums in the first place.

Anyway, I see myself as a team player, and am willing to follow orders in game, although I am not hesitant to pipe up and give my own opinion if I disagree with my squad leader's tactical/strategic reasoning.

I mainly play as an infantryman, and although I am proficient in most vehicles in-game, I hardly ever utilize anything heavier than a jeep, due to others wanting to use them more than me.

My favorite maps are by far Quai AAS and Korengal Valley Insurgency. I absolutely detest Kashan and Quinling, and almost always leave the server when they come up in the rotation.

@ploddit

Once you start to play PR, I doubt you'll ever want to go back to vanilla. Karkand infantry only medic bunny hopping swan diving grenade spammers... *shudder*

Thanks for the reply. Though I meant to ask about the PR nights, which are each sunday or so. Do they still exist?

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hey all, BRAND NEW to Tactical Gamer community but already seems like a great, MATURE, and teamwork-oriented community. Definitely up my alley, so I hope to have some good times ahead when I pop on to do a little shooting.

Been playing FPS for at least 6 years now and have always been drawn to teamwork and unison in gameplay. Often drawn away for periods of time due to immature and un-organized chaos that is on many games and servers. Hoping Project Reality and this community will bring a change to that cycle.

Currently a poolee in the delayed entry program for the United States Marine Corps. I ship out next year, June 1st, 2010 for Boot Camp. Can't wait. Any questions, PM me. Hope to see you all on the battlefield soon.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi everyone- Just realised this thread was here and immediatley facepalmed when i realised i'd been registered for about 2 months without seeing it.. Oh well.

TG is by far my favourite TG server, and if there's a spot free I'd usually try nabbing it before someone else does, due to the recent lag spike glitch on the server though, i'm waiting for it to get fixed before i go back, but damm last round i had flying CAS on kashan getting 22-0 K/D/R with a proper squad was my best PR experience to date.
Anyway, hi again to everyone.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi guys,

Started out playing BF1942 then on to Desert Combat Mod then onto BF2 now PR. Been playing PR for about 6 months. Love it. I'm excited about 0.86. TG's server is great. And great latency at my location! (Charlotte, NC) I consider myself a student of the game who is eager to learn everything there is to know. I have been interested in getting into PR a little more seriously by joining a group/clan/community and getting involved. TG seems like a great place to do that. I had a great time with some TG guys this afternoon. (sup3rhornet, Zedic, Pancho) Look forward to getting to know more of you!
