Post Squad member pledge to their Squad leader

Part 3.
As a squad member I will pledge the following to my Squad leader.

During the count down timer:

When joining a squad I will wait for a calm in radio transmissions and report in.

I will help the SL by volunteering for kits that I prefer to play.
I will also keep this kit until ordered otherwise. This is especially important for the squad medic. Keep that kit always. Granted many times a Squad leader will have a member that goes with the flow of the battle (ie. AT/ Grenadier) when they are spawning in.

I will delay spawn on initial deployment and wait until the command in order for the SL to execute his/her orders better.

After the game begins:

I will let the squad leader know when I go down.

I will let the squad leader know when I am fixin to spawn in.

I will try no to interrupt the squad leader when they are talking. Only under emergency conditions will I do so. I.e. potential for mission compromise, arty firing, and seeing enemy movement, for a few. [Use good judgment here.]
Do not interrupt them with your idea for a plan. After they are finished make your suggestions.

While informing the SL of information is important, I will not saturated the SL with minutiae.

I will not order fellow members to do things. Create your own squad if you want to do this.

I will obey the orders of the squad leader.

I will do my best to perform the function of my squad. I.e. infantry squad not flying choppers/jets/. Request for permission to get into a tank. The squad leader will know if there is an amour squad formed or not.

If I am the Assistant SL or fire team leader, I will refer to the SL pledge in order to get a better grasp on how to best take orders and command others in the platoon.

I will do my best to role play the kits I am playing. I.e, as a medic I will not take point on an assault. Instead I will try to gravitate toward the middle of the squad.

I will let the squad leader know when I am putting down Mines, C4, SLAMS (really important!) so that friendly casualties will be minimized.

I will stay at assigned positions/areas until further orders

I will be a team player and realize that not sticking with the squad will be troublesome for me.

A very good summary of key issues.

You might add "I will stay at assigned positions/areas until further orders."

One of the most important, yet hardest to find trait in any gaming soldier. I catch myself "drifting" away from a point in order to get a shot off or what have you, even after playing with many clans and organized tournaments around the net.

Something that helps with this (which E-male was great with the other night) is as a squad leader to make sure you mention/thank the person who is doing the babysitting of a flag or point. And make sure to rotate squad members in and out of the mundane duties that are needed.

Great list!

I don't follow there 8thMan. The TG PR server is not private so you don't need a password to get on that one. If you're actually looking at the private server it is running vanilla currently as we have been preparing on that server in order for the upcoming scrim this Saturday. Hope that helps you out.

Re: Squad member pledge to their Squad leader

thanks rick you should post this all in the PR forums too, Im sure they would appreciate it.

I still think PR gameplay is too fast to make effective use of commander, but hopefully it will be slowed down in future releases.

I've seen plenty of evidence to suggest that a CO is essential in PR, as it is in all BF2 mods.

As for slowing it down, that's our responsibility as players. Where does it say that on map load, the attacking team has to haphazardly run around grabbing any old vehicle and steam off to the nearest objective? That initial rush usually results in the fragmented attacking team mostly dying, and losing a lot of jeeps, helos, planes and tickets. Once that happens, it tends to take a good half hour to get any sembelance of organisation, but by then you're usually bleeding tickets and too far behind to win.
