Re: Please get rid of
Do you know how many times I've been teamkilled by an A10 and an attack chopper on Al Basrah? This even happens on the TG server!

That addresses the concerns of everyone who's been TK'd by the A10's (or whatever aircraft on whatever map). Another thing I wanted to bring up (I've lost the link, I'm afraid) was a post I saw that equated to : "the 2 guys flying the A10s can't going to make a difference on the ground, so we should let them carry on flying". Wrong. It takes 2 to cap a flag, and having those extra guys on the ground means we can sneak them in (via a long, slow route with weapons hold / fire condition red). A flag going neutral does 2 things : wakes the OpFor up (usually followed by them descending upon said flag like fury incarnate, and it also rallies the team that turned the flag. It's all in the reactions of the teams at that point. Let's not forget the cobras. They fly lower and slower, and are therefore far more accurate, but the tradeoff is that they're a damn site easier to bring down. Putting them on the ground with the A10 pilots gives a struggling team a full infantry squad to help cap the flags. If the team is struggling, then the pilots are better off on the ground. Heck I'm 160th. You think I want to be crawling round Basrah when there's helos to be flying / crewing? You're crazy if you think I do. The thing is, that we have so many people that want to apply me-play to the game, that everyone else has to do the things they're not so good at in order to help the team. Kit / vehicle whores (and worse, whores that are ignorant of how to use the tools they monopolise) are ruining this game. I maintain that they do so because they want the best KDR and the gold medal, regardless of whether their team stands a chance. This me-play is spreading into our forum, too. I keep seeing people say "I won" a given map. What? There weren't 30 other people on your team? I propose that we start slapping people with neg rep when they bring the "I won" crap into the forum. As for the people who take all the kits and vehicles for their own use, I hold SL's and the CO responsible. The bottom line, is that if you give an order, your SL's / SM's are required to follow it. If you fail to report problems to an admin, be prepared for a visit from an admin.

Re: Please get rid of
Very well said Root. I was a "fair" chopper pilot back in vanilla, but have yet to touch a bird other then as passenger in this mod. Why? I play to win, and one thing that I have found consistent in pub games along with matches are these maps are won or lost on the ground, with guys carrying guns. Air power used properly can make that incredibly easier, but you cant control ground with air power, only deny ground. Unfortunately, denying isnt the same as controlling, and the "secure" part of the AaS system means you need to control the ground around flag's which brings me back to the men with guns in their hands. The flip side of my previous statement is also true, air power used poorly can make winning the maps more difficult.
I dont have anything else to add you haven't already covered. I had a few good rounds on Basrah since I made my intial post about it where the team played smarter. While I regret the tone I took in my post, I think the fact's I listed are accurate they just could have been conveyed in a less demanding fashion. |
