Steiner, when on the .50, push c and enjoy...straight aim, and you can zoom using right mouse button!

Also, it's only C if you haven't rebound your change camera view button =)
(my C is used for teamspeak, this caused some amusing/fatal issues when I was flying and tried to talk the first time)

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
Well my first impressions of this mod are very positive. Big thanks to Jeepo, Taip3n and WTFOMGHAXBBQ (seriously dude, i was not expecting such a helpful "TGer" when i saw that name), and all the others, who have put up with me wandering around pointing at stuff going "ooooh whats that? What does that do? Wheres my gun etc...."
Its quite probable my impressions will change over time and exposure but the one thing which i would like to see more of is prolonged infantry engagements. It seems to me that infantry combat is a little too quick and deadly. Dont get me wrong i like the "bullets actually kill you approach" but even in the round where i managed to put up a respectable fight all my kills were with less than a single magazine, there were no "firefights" as such. To aid this maybe some tweaking of the standard rifles to give them less accuracy over the longer distances or a modifier based on being engaged with an enemy. Id love to get into some good old scraps with a squad in cover, popping up to loose rounds at the opposition and taking a good deal of deadly, yet not so..... well....decisive(?) fire. It would be good to keep a very potent circle of death for a few hundred yards around the squad, but declining rapidly thereafter. This would be with the goal of simulating the debilitating effects of return fire and make suppression and fire and manouver more important. This probably isnt the best way to go about it but in summary this is what id like to see: Very deadly close combat (pretty much as it stands) and standard kits potent to medium ranges. The opportunity for a squad over medium to long range (a sort of skirmish distance) to either: Stay put and get into a grinding yet exciting firefight. Advance into the "killing zone" of an opfor squad with appropriate and realistic tactics. Call for joint arms support. Rekit with specialised marksman/sniper kits to win a long range encounter. As it stands, the infantry combat seems to be about headshots alone....but im an unashamed ground pounder. ![]()

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
This is more down to tatics then the engine imo. Squads travel around like they are in a bus queue. I know where they will be taking a trip to
People seem to get lonely if they arent close enough to hold hands, of course its over in a flash whenever they encounter enemy fire. Either the other squad is just as useless and is lined up ready for their firing line formation or its bettter, surrounds and ends them Even better is one person wiping out an entire squad with a grenade or noob tube. The mistake is theirs for using the wrong grouping, the dead people are the noobs tbh . I know zip about military tatics or formation but Im sure people do not adapt properly to their surroundings.A random squad on the server will probably do this but I reckon even the organised people who regularly play with each other do this as well. If you want to live longer and you can do this in other games like css even on a public server is to mirror the squad. Flank for them, fall back in a secure position and provide a covering position as they cross a wide road (becoming heavily exposed) I would say be the pointman but he always dies and if they are useless, they wont care or pay attention to any info you supply so you might as well use them as the point. Some kits get powerfull binoculars, as good as a sniper sight. You can use that to spot, it you get something besides a question mark people will usually notice and respond to it. If your fairly certain of whats there, you can select it manually but a moving properly spotted target is best. I dont generally agree with changing the weapon damage values except they could devalue them all to encourage more vehicle MG use and other heavier weapons but that would discourage infantary play if anything I think, in favour of grenade spamming, etc |

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
Thats true.
I'd like to see the rule scrapped thats stopping people getting kits from an APC or crate when its near a flag. Its highly confusing and frustrating and serves no purpose that I can see. An example would an apc in the water at the Jabal dam ![]() Someone drives it from the carrier straight to the dam. They then quit the game in frustration that you cannot actually gain access to the flag on foot or wheeled vehicle from that direction. Then typically for the rest of the game everyone who spawns there can neither walk to the flag without going via west beach on the other side of the mountain or move the APC with a crewman kit because its too close to the flag. At least modify the rule to exclude crewman kits please |

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
I'd like something like Operation Ghost Train but with quad bikes/motorbikes that can be driven into the back of the British Merlin heli and then driven out when the heli lands at the target. It's just one of those things that I've always wanted to do on BF2

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
Apparently the merlin would then destroy the quads contain in the back. The game engine would not secure them together and as they constantly jostle each other, damage would occur and obviously the quad blows up killing all within or something :/
They had planned a hovercraft to do something similar apparently. Flying that hercules transport on basra would be cool The runways a bit short though |

Re: What would you like to see in v0.6?
I'd like to see more availability of the grappling hook or even a new class to scale mountains. It'd be usefull on Jabal which is basically set upon a mountain.
The ability to dig tank traps would be good Last edited by Sabre_Tooth_Tigger; 05-17-2007 at 10:34 AM. |
