I agree. I couldnt care less if my score is 400 or -50 so long as I'm doing my job. Score is really quite insignificant in PR, especially on our server. A great example of this happened last week on steel thunder. USMC was down to village and USMC camp, up by 5 tickets on the chinese with a grand total of 15 or 16 left. We had a whole squad of guys defending village when seemingly the whole chinese team descended on the flag. In a last ditch effort, the commander dropped arty on the flag at village, killing the entire squad that was there and close to 10 chinese players. USMC wound up winning by something like 2 tickets less than 10 seconds after that. Now, the commander got lots of negative points for all the teamkills, but he handed us the (narrow) win and it was a calculated risk. I have no problem with that.

The overall outcome is what I find most enjoyable. After all, how many people leave because they had negative scores versus how many people leave because they lose 2-3 rounds in a row?

Me either - sounds like a pretty gutsy move which should be rewarded - though I imagine that most people killed off by the CO for the victory weren't as understanding - but maybe I'm wrong about that.

The lesson of this thread, I think, is that punishing is pretty pointless. If someone's really screwing with you or other players, do a little "REPORTING: XXX for XXX" and let the admins decide.

If that is the case then WHY does a person get kicked for NEGATIVE score? I do not care about my score either, I do care about being kicked for the negative score though, especially from the TG server. Which I really enjoy playing in. I have been kicked when I recieved a bunch of negative scoring from TK's when I was shot down from a fully loaded BH 3 times and got all the TK points and punishments, the sole reason I hardly ever fly a BH now. I did not know I got all the TK's and that the people punished me till after the kick and then I thought about WHY I was kicked when it said something about the negative score. Then it dawned on me about the BH being shot down and people must have punished me for it.

Re: When I punish

It all depends on the situation. If it's clearly accidental, I have no issue, but if I'm being taken out by someone repeatedly spamming grenades/strafing a friendly area in a Tankbuster, then I'll punish if they don't listen to initial warnings. I do see the punish as a handy tool that the non-admins have at their disposal, to help deal with repeat offenders before taking the serious step of reporting (where the player in question might be kicked or even banned).

I understand and know the obvious answer. Still if nobody cares at all about the score a lot WOULD be kicked for negative scores. See the logic?

Oh Blitzer, have had a terrible family tragedy, reason I have not been on for about a week. Brother is in hospital listed in critical condition, he will probably be in the hospital for about 2 months or longer, if he lives. He had a motorcycle accident that broke his back, broke all the ribs on his left side, 4 ribs on the right, his left collar bone, shattered his right arm and crushed his right hand. He has been on a ventilator since the accident which happened on the 5th and his lungs keep collapsing plus he has some internal bleeding but they are not sure exactly where from yet. They are keeping him in a drug induced coma to keep him from feeling the pain. Doctors also said he would be paralyzed from the waist down.

Anyway I am trying to get back into my normal routine of things to get that off my mind and hope to see you all in the game again.

Re: When I punish

Dam, sorry to hear about your bro :/

Kicking for negative scores seems reasonable but often the game engine is not.

If you shoot a blackhawk heli with a pistol and it crashes on take off killing all 6 passengers then you will receive 6 teamkills and probably a few punishes, which on alot of servers will get you kicked.
Quite often I find people will ignore game messages like ammo please or pickup please unless it immediately applies to them with a pistol shot ricochet or something similar so I've had this happen to me before.

Yesterday we had an A10 pilot track us across the map and shoot down the heli while it was on the helipad repairing. The reason was he got killed by the heli pilot earlier while trying to gun on the heli, not exactly true since he wasnt in the same squad as the pilot...

He did apologise later but you see the junk that goes on
