Re: L-AT as sniper rifle, fair dos or gamey?
Only one zoom. Thats great. It was way to easy for the thing to take out tanks. Armor stood no chance against one squad running an H-AT kit.

Re: L-AT as sniper rifle, fair dos or gamey?
I never really understood the complaints regarding the LAT sniping. I had seen it used, but only in a very minor use and it didn't seem to me to be an issue.
Last night it was used extensively. People were using LAT's for close and medium range single infantry killing all night. Very annoying. |

i use HAT on certain maps where i can find myself with cover and wide terrain. it is certainly the most effective single weapon vs apc's, helo's and fast movers, without question. if i use it vs infantry, i'm aiming for a group, otherwise, i'm not using HAT properly. not because it's against the rules (which comes into play ) but because it's so much more satisfying to watch that helo sink into the dirt and check to find 5 kills on a single rocket, low crawl back into cover, reload the giant casing and repeat. it is a sniper weapon, but if someone is sniping single units, just take it in stride and write them off as not gonna do very well this round.

Paul386, you hit it on the head. Don't forget that it has two zooms, just like the sniper class has. In 0.6 it will only have one zoom, like the marksman. But those days are still far away....

Interesting, I am going to have to get my hands on the HAT to try it out.
I have to agree: Unlimited use of RPG's for insurgents. Limited use of RPG's by armies, with use being against armor / buildings / groups of infantry. |

Re: L-AT as sniper rifle, fair dos or gamey?
when a decision is finally made can an admin make a clear locked post and amend the rules. No one should have to read 7 pages of posts to know what the ruling is.
As it stands I use LAT against infy when the opportunity allows it. Groups in fields, people hiding behind cover (who need indirect splash to kill), exposed high value targets (if i see a sniper, he's def worth a lat round), tight spaces where there's no hiding from explosions (into windows or corridors). I think what separates this from the annoying lat people is that I keep my gun out until I decide I'm going to use LAT, not keeping LAT out until I decide to use my gun. Also, RPG is fair game for any target as far as I'm concerned. Then someone says, but RPG is just a LAT, so why can't i use LAT on any target. That logic is hard to argue with for those lat sniper lovers. I am all for restricting zoomed hat snipery, but lat sniping is certainly less annoying than all the 203 spammery, so I have trouble complaining about it unless its those point blank people who never use their gun at all.
