Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Here is another overall update of the open beta from eggman in the PR forums:

Thanks again for the assistance to sort out the issues with v0.6.

We are preparing a v0.605 build. This is a few days away. Hopefully we'll have this in time for next weekend. There are lots of tweaks and fixes coming thanks to your beta testing efforts.

Just a heads up.. hopefully next weekend there will be servers running the 0605 build and a client available ahead of time to make sure people have an opportunity to download it.

We should also have a few more servers online with the 0605 build.

I expect that 0605 will be the last Open Beta build and we should release v0.6 in early June.

Thanks again!

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Agreed JMaker, it was a great round and it's one of the best maps I've seen in any game.

One thing you can definitely say, 06 represents allot of hard work by the Dev's.

I think you went 38 to 6 that round and took 1st on our team. Sweet kill ratio and I think our squad made at least 7 flag caps.

I can't wait to get our server up, /nudges Asch and Apophis.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

A new build is available (v.0605) that has corrected a lot of bugs and other adjustments. You must uninstall the previous v.06 version (v.0604) before installing. Check out the link below for details:

Open Beta Download Links at the PR Forums

Here's a link to the changelog (v.0604->.0605 only)

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Excellent, will the TG server remain compatible
Quote:
WEAPONS: set hellfire missiles to 212 m/s velocity (from 125). This is 50% of their real world velocity. Set max range to approximately 1km. Needs play testing. Current 125 m/s velocity is too slow for long range engagements.

HUD: added minimap icons for Firebases and Bunkers, only displayed to friendlies on the map, looks like the Rally Point icons, but with a "C" for Commander instead of a squad number.

PYTHON: Added some more checks to try to make the cmdr assets deploying more stable.

PYTHON: Removed the mortar kit from kit request config so it doesn't spawn the white thing.

PYTHON: Fixed rounds not ending by time limit or ticket limit.

PYTHON: Added deployable AA as stationary guns.

PYTHON: Added the bipods to the list of stationary weapons.
PYTHON: Fixed check for civilians inside stationary weapons.
PYTHON: Added light damage to militia and insurgents armed vehicles.

RALLY POINTS: Removed the rally point expiration when losing a CP and the block when trying to create a new rally point when you already have one.

KITS: added dual micro UZIs to the M82 kit

CIVILIANS: 25 points to civilian killer
CIVILIANS: minus 1 to the number of kills
CIVILIANS: 10 min kit request block to killer
CIVILIANS: minus 1 to the number of deaths in the civilian score
CIVILIANS: no death attrition penalty for the civilian
CIVILIANS: 10s respawn to the civilian
CIVILIANS: Added code to kill civilians if they operate stationary weapons.

COMMANDER: Increased the number of sandbag walls in an area to 5 from 2.
COMMANDER: Lowered the number of CPs needed to build a bunker to 2 from 3.

COMMANDER: allowed Command Posts to be destroyed, so they can be relocated; allowed AAA to be destroyed so they can be relocated.

MAPS: added vehicle drops to Kashan

Known bugs -

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Downloading now. Looks like most of the existing beta servers have already updated to .0605. Hopefully the TG beta server will be updated sometime this evening.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Just finished downloading with the torrent in under 2h. Pretty fast for me.

Looks like they made many important changes. I'm not installing it yet though because you cannot install it over the previous version. Hope we get word soon.

*edit*Have installed it, couldn't wait.

Lol Al, brilliant.

@ everyone else - if you haven't checked this out, well worth a look. Maps are HUYUUUUUUUUGE. Draw distance is well up. Aicraft are looking great, fly great, and the view from the sky (with the upped Draw Distance) is awe inspiring. Weapons zoom better (iron sights). There's quad bikes. Medic class does not suffer badly, stil very playable. More classes have binocs. Officer class is very well kitted out. Textures look cleaner/crisper...I could go on.

I didn't suffer any of the bugs that people are complaing about, except the ones which were clearly due to the fact it was a Beta (other than the Bi Ming bug). No buggier than PR.5 I would say.

The destructible buildings thing is great. Adds a whole new dimension. Last night we took cover from an A10 inside a building which didn't look flimsy, and thought we were safe.

*BOOM*

Not as safe as I thought!

My ONE gripe, and it seriously miffed me, was the massive zoom that the tanks now have. I was inside a building, well away from the entrance, lying, peering round a corner. I was scanning the horizon through the front door with my binocs, and saw a tank. There was no way in the world he should have seen me, given the distance (without binocs, he was a dot on the horizon). But because it was a flag I was at, he was obviously having a look around, and saw me with his 3x zoom. I got sniped from his machine gun.

Later on, one of the tanks was sniping vehicles at our main (I know, I know) with his main gun. We couldn't even see him without binocs, but he wiped everything out easily.

I'm thinking they may have made this overly powerful.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

I don't know shades, I kind of like the new zoom. It is much better for tankl v tank battles. The infantry disadvantage is obviously a side effect but once this is released, I'm hoping tanks won't try to hunt down infantry 1km away.

Of course their trade off is that the sights are very "bouncy" at that level of zoom so they have to be perfectly still and move very slowly to be accurate.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Please make sure to post all feedback on the PR Beta forums. They can address some of these issues before the official release.

The main problem there would be the accuracy of fire not the zoom. If anything the tank has more reason to have a powerfull zoom then some guy trudging round on foot.
However I think the cannon shell fires straight rather then an arc and probably its machine gun too?

He should have seen you but struggled to hit first try, it should have been more like an artillery situation - giving you ample time to call for backup or getaway to proper cover
