He should have seen you but struggled to hit first try, it should have been more like an artillery situation - giving you ample time to call for backup or getaway to proper cover
Think of it as a computer assisted targeting system.

Certainly the MG/Chain gun should have been useless at that distance, but the 120mm main gun shouldn't be at 700-900m across open terrain vs. stationary targets.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

No I dont think it should be useless but clearly some random element is needed at distance or its not that realistic. Either thats calculated or if that cant be done, it should really just be slightly randomised.

Remember that old tank on a hill game (2D, donkeys years old, enter angle/power) on the advanced versions they had wind effect the trajectory. We dont have wind but a random offset that changed per map would be fair ?

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Basrah insurgency mode. I had thought we would have to search out these ammo dumps, hide and seek with aks

River Kwai changes favour usmc it seems but I always thought that area at the top was wasted and its got lots of scenery up there so it'll be cool to play

I tried out a bit of the heli handling and the blackhawk is calmer but displays some similar charactistics in smaller proportion, top speed is still like 900 I think I remember.
Littlebird stays the same, top speed 550.
Brit cobra, top speed 1390 and seems slightly easier to fly and less lead weight effect when diving. The gun view on it is bugged at present but it still all works it seems like

The littlebird wont crash when you apply 100% power straight away. The power comes on gradually and with equal balanced lift.

Same for the others, much less likely to crash on landing or take off. Less of that strange quicksand/bouncy dynamic they all had when touching the ground. I landed the cobra like I would take off my boots

Quick suggestion, is an exit buzzer/light for heli pilots to flick on, using the comm rose is a little awkward when hovering. I guess I should just bind something

edit:

If you find a bug where you cant request a kit, leave and reenter the squad

I tested blackhawk minigun out and I think its been upgraded in damage, just first impressions though.

war vets get an ak now instead of g3 and it sounds better too, more clattery like you'd expect a gun with a giant spring to sound

Basrah lighting is like its dusk

Insurgents rpg is now just a pickup kit at palace hq & the brits are still losing, useless blighters

Theres no mechanics or medic just civilians. Ammo is part of the insurgent kit and so is more common.

Overall I have to conclude its a massive shift in gameplay and much more thought will be required. All the other stuff thats changed is of no significance in comparison to civs.
The sooner we start playing this version of the map, the better.

The devs have said they want to get it out this month. I have seen fewer and fewer (unique) bug reports in the PR forums as a result of the open beta. Hopefully that means that most of the issues are known about and are being actively worked on and we will see a full .6 release soon.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

Wow..as mentioned in the Beta Test Server Thread, there are some changed to insurgency mode...these look awesome...check them out (these are server side...implemented when the server is updated):

PR v0.605 "C" Insurgency Game Mode Changes fromthe PR forums:

Quote:
The 0605 "C" Insurgency game mode still has the same basic concept as the previous insurgency releases: conventional armies need to hunt down Insurgent weapon caches and destroy them.

However there are some important changes!

The Conventional armies will NOT have the weapon cache locations know to them. Instead they will have to gain "intel" points.

Intel points are gained by:
killing insurgents - 1 point
looting insurgent kits - 2 points (pickup an Insurgent kit before it disappears .. don't need to hang onto the kit, just pick it up and drop it)
arresting civilians - 6 points
killing insurgent embedded SF operator - 6 points

Intel points are lost by:
killing civilians - minus 3 points

When the Conventional Army reaches 30 intel points, a weapon cache location is relvealed through a marker on the map.

Each weapon cache gets progressively harder to discover. 3 intel points are added to the intel points requirement for each cache discovered. So for example the first one is 30 points, the second one will be 33 points and the 8th one will be 54 points: 30 + (3x8=24).

When the Insurgents destroy a heavy asset such as a helicopter or APC, the Conventional army team loses 10 tickets.

There are 10 weapon cache locations determined randomly from a pool of locations. Conventional Army teams need to destroy 9 of these. These can be sought out through traditional house to house searches, or the locations can be determined by collecting intel.

Note that all other civilian rules of engagement apply.

We have also added points to the attacker and his squad when destroying an objective.

Note that this is not the final Al Basrah layout for Insurgency, there are still changes to come in the next client update, but these are the last major changes we expect to the game mode logic. Additional changes coming in the 0606 CLIENT side patch: Heavy Ticket bleed for Brits when they lose VCP, different starting ownership for Palace, More spawn locations for Insurgents, weapon caches will require 50 cal or better to destroy, plus a few other changes. But those are for the next open beta client patch.

Re: v.06 Open Beta Release

There is an update to the Beta and without the update you will crash to desktop (I had same problem). It has moved then from v.6 (or really v0.604) which was the original download to another one, v0.605.

Before loading the update you will have to delete v6.0, as the update is the whole thing again.

Here is the link to v0.605:http://realitymod.com/forum/showthre...808#post369808

And yes, there are uzis and lordylordyme!
