Re: Server down, hard reset required!
Is this why I got dropped last night?
Everything was lagging like hell for a while - Jeepo dropped from our squad making me SL, and as I was trying to invite him back in, I dropped (sorry Jeepo!) I gave up in the end, I seemed to be having real connection probs, I'm still not sure if it was me or the server. We'll see how things are tonight.

Re: Server down, hard reset required!
It didn't need a hard reset. Please, when you're reporting problems just say what you KNOW. The server was down, that was it. The machine HAD hard reset and that's why the server wasn't online.

Re: Server down, hard reset required!
I said what 3 other admins told me to say. Seems like knowledge enough for me.

Quote:
IE: 64.34.161.157, Project Reality, Server is currently down. When I see "hard restart" it means I need access to specific LOM applications to force the machine to restart. If the server is just down, all I need is VNC. I can respond to issues faster if I have the IP, and a description of the actual problem rather than being told specifically what to do. ![]() Admins don't have access to the physical machine, so the only thing they can tell is if the game is up or down and/or if BFxCC is up or down.

Re: Server down, hard reset required!
All of the server IP addresses are listed in a sticky. For future reference, the PRM server is hosted at 64.34.161.157.

Re: Server down, hard reset required!
This whole thing brings up a good point. I need to make some type of system and/or procedure for reporting server outages. To make it easy for the admins (and myself) as well as to allow the issue to be routed to the appropriate party, I need to have a standard form that makes sure we have all the info we need.
If I'm on the road (which is often) I can usually deal with most server issues, but depending on the report, I may need to wait until I can get to a location to VPN back into my home network and/or initiate the restart from my phone. Additionally; I could delegate the restart to another admin depending on what type of restart it is. I'm going to work on something for this.

Re: Server down, hard reset required!
Absolutely, but if no one is there that can deal with the problem, an alternative solution needs to be available.
