Re: Intended use of vehicles & weapons

Terminal Boy, please quote the actual rule please. I can't find it.

I do agree with you that this seems to be out of the intended use of HAT kit. But, as you clearly point out, we don't have all the information concerning that specific situation. That's the problem with a gray zone like this... the line is thin between acceptable use and abuse.

Form the normal usage, if the enemy squad was not under cover and there was no point target to shoot at (wall, building, etc), that usage was wrong. Otherwise it's acceptable.

At the moment, I'm reading your post as "I went against the TG PRM Server rules so I didn't die or loose my shiny H-AT kit."....

Personally, I'd have reported you for H-AT sniping to an Admin if I'd be on the receiving end of the incident you describe.
Map: Assault on Mestia
Squad: Ambush
SL: Me
Position: 20m above enemy
Situation: Ambush position discovered by enemy after taking out their Warrior. Before being able to relocate we had British forces attacking us, the SL survived the explosion somehow and had troops spawning in. We took out about 5 infantry before I located their SL. We were up on a hill above them and their SL was hiding next to a tree. We had ammo and a RP for supplies but were taking heavy fire. They were all six piled up so I had to take the shot, it was my responsibility as a SL for the safety of my squad. After clearing the rest of the area, we moved the RP and relocated.

Now that I think of it, I doubt it even was on the TG server as it was in an early stage of the beta... and as I mentioned the only time I ever used H-AT to take out infantry.

Imo taking out an entire squad with one rocket can be more valuable than taking out some noob about to drive his Warrior over a mine... all depends on the situation.

I thought the same, Eryx has a secondary launch rocket doesnt it. I dont ever use or fly a heli using this tactic just because I dont like it, I have used HAT from the back of a moving Vodnik though to discourage a tank

The other day on OGT we were dropping mines and C4 from the back of a heli which seemed fair to me, though it was largely ineffective anyway

Re: Intended use of vehicles & weapons

Today, Saber and I were using the Chopper to destroy all the bridges in Al Basrah. It worked with great success!

yeah, he does a good job with the chopper. Very effective to search for caches from above.

Re: Intended use of vehicles & weapons

Apparently that was one of the reasons why the Apache was taken out of Basra though we had it in early beta versions.
I think its quite hard to spot cache and only a few are viewable in that way.

I was totally owned by 3 RPG flying this way the other day. Dropping people by a cache is a tiny bit dangerous, bad lz

Raining down C4 on people though is potentially very funny
