Airborne assault maps and rappelling from helis

Are there any of the airborne assault maps out (where you exit the aircraft parachuting as a spawn point)? Are there any plans to let people rappel from helicopters?

I can see rappelling working, somehow. Just put a "grappling" hook on the side of the Blackhawk, press a special key and you can slide down. I would love it. but....I dont think the USMC does it. Thats an Army Ranger thing...

Fast roping out of a helicopter has been discussed to death in the PR forums.....in other words it doesn't look likely in the near future.

Here is a typical fast roping thread:

British paratroopers parachute into battle, that would be the airport map I guess. Looks like they had to make a duplicate entry there for every kit to include the parachute as well.

Also people have discussed a pilot squad, who would deploy rapidly from a helicopter and request kits from a supply crate. That strategy is currently possible but not generally worth it, maybe on kashan..

The problem with chutes is that they aren't disposable. Once you have them you can fly off roofs and buildings vanilla style. If they could find a way to make a chute a one use item that cannot be reloaded and can only be used after X seconds of free fall that'd be good.

Don't bother talking about fast roping, its been beaten to death.
