Yes

Switch, welcome you will enjoy your experience.

Scyatic, you can jump on for an hour or two and have an enjoyable time. Just remember it is more about tactics and less about kills. It is very different from BF2 and the community is very serious. There are no SMACKTARDS at all. The people that are on are very generous about showing new players the ropes and take the time to get you up to speed. Some of the best rounds I have had have been with the early AM crew.

Re: Big boy tactics...

I play both games and I think they both compliment each other nicely.

there are lots of pros and cons in both. Right now I prefer PR more because Im getting sick of the annoying behaviour the arma AI has and the fact there is not many other missions played besides evolution, which im getting bored of

Re: Big boy tactics...

First impressions.
The game play requires some waiting. There is no such thing as jumping into battle. Sure, you can hop in a helo and fly on in.... but you still spend 4 min in the air getting to a distant destination on top of fixing your load out in the main base before you go (picking your gear). Then you need to fly into a zone not covered by AA... and land soft or else kaboom.

The fun is in putting a plan together and then executing it.

Since I don't have the will to sit through so much waiting (yet) I tend to go solo at night and try to sneak into cities and demo targets...

The game has a full night and day cycle, btw... so the position of the sun has alot to do with your visibility....

The game often drops below 20 fps, which is very disappointing with 3.0p4, 2gigs ram, 512 X1950 video. My settings are on normal, not high or very high, AA and antifiltering off.

I hope future patches improve and streamline rendering performance.

All and all I still think its great, once I learn the ropes....

Re: Big boy tactics...

The graphical slowdowns are what forced me to shelf the game. Others may have more of a tolerance for a "chuggy game" or don't have a good enough system to be able to draw a line in the sand like that, but, *shrug*.

I know what you mean. I have a quad core, 8gb ram and dual x1950 pros on my machine and I still get graphics dropoffs. I'm not quite sure what the missing variable is, but i'd like to find it since my system specs are like 4x what the box recommends.

Re: Big boy tactics...

8gb ram lol are you a graphic artist?

The only thing that'd persuade me to play arma would be if the flight dynamics were really realistic and involving

You know exactly what the missing variable is Ferris.

Poor programming.

Well, that would do it I suppose. and to answer the question, no, i'm not a graphic artist most of the time (I dabble a little in sketchwork using my tablet and otherwise photography/photomanipulation for my DA page). I just wanted a badass computer so I wouldnt ever have to worry about having insufficient resources ever again. So I built one. Cost me an arm and a leg.

Re: Big boy tactics...

heh, 8GB seems like a waste unless your running a super server, you will only use 4 any time in the near future. and DDR3 ram was just released................

Re: Big boy tactics...

Ferris speaks the truth about not being a graphic artist
