Re: Server Issues?
I have heard that people with high pings slow down and cause lag on a server, is this true cause I also heard just the opposite. That it all depends on the server and your connection you have that determines if a person gets lag.
I have played on the server when it has been mainly high ping players on it, 200 and above, must have been in the wee hours of the morning and people from across the pond must have been playing. I had no issues with any lag at all myself and the .5 server seemed fine as well. So the therory about high pingers slowing the server I have not noticed. Kebab-Kastike, I believe the map you are talking about is Bi Ming, I have never had the oppurtunity to play that map myself cause of crashes. I do not think that it is ANY particular map, I think it is more server related because of the game itself since the update to .6 final. I could be wrong but I don't think it is TG's PR server, I believe it is PR and maybe they will address these issues with a server patch or something.

Today I saw someone with TG in his name asking all the people with 200 ping to leave the server, I really hope this isn't a start of a trend as some of us are far away from the server's location but really enjoy playing on TG, I mostly play on the server with 300 ping, I've gotten used to it and its fine really - the blame is two continents away and having a ****ty ISP. About people with higher ping: all that stuff about lagging the server..its really a bunch of crap and nothing more, it has been fine so far in the server's history. There are a few map-related crashes, Bii Ming[spelling], if you load this map first you'll crash. |

Re: Server Issues?
Honestly, I play with players like dirtboy who have 200+ pings all the time, and they dont lag. At all.

The issue probably is a problem with the dedicated server software, not the box running the server or it's connection or anything like that. The only way the issue would be with the box other then hardware failure would be if changing the game so radically didn't make the server requirements higher then they were previously but not enough testing was done in this regard to find out what new hardware requirements there would be for servers. My guess is memory leaks for both server and clients are causing the problems. |

There are plenty of players contributing from very long distances (Korea, Israel,..) I think it is a shame to warn them off like that. Either it is a TG policy, or there no reason for anyone to tell people to go away for their ping.

Re: Server Issues?
Went down again, don't know what map was on as I was eating...
That 's twice in 2 hours... are other servers crashing as much? If so, we really need a serverside patch. Good thing is there 's always an admin ready to reboot it, thx for the great support! |

It doesnt lag the person with low ping afaik, it does put them increasingly out of them sync but the lag is all their side. People with high ping should be easy to pick off, you will experience wyatt earp reactions and they will be always be operating later then they realise. As a HPB (relatively) I always choose the pre emptive strike if I can because a face to face fight rarely will be fair though the server is pretty cosmopolitian |

Re: Server Issues?
On TG servers I always have around 160 ping, however this does not affect my gameplay. I get kills and killed just as easily on 20 latency.
