Re: News from the PR front.

I think IED is fine as it is, just being C4. Just maybe a reskin would be appropriate.

Molotov is just a placeholder. Either it's going to be in this patch or .7. It's probably done, just not yet put in for priority reasons.

Re: News from the PR front.

So we won't hear everytime someone shoots an assault rifle outside our 60-ton battletank as if it were fired inside the tank?

Re: News from the PR front.

The Apache will be back in Basrah, but only in AAS... not insurgency. He will also replace the Cobra 's in Kashan 32.

The Apache was the British Chopper in BF2 Special Forces, with the MI 24 being the Spetsnaz version. The helis that were new in Armoured Fury were the Littlebird style (small, fast, light armour, machineguns only)

I like the Cobra in PR because the faster RoF on the guns helps against infantry, especially when the heli is moving fast. With the MEC heli's you have time for less shots in a fly by attack.
I've never been in an Apache in PR ever. :'(

Lookin' forward to the Challenger though!

Re: News from the PR front.

Wait, why is the USMC going to use the Apache over their Cobras? I mean, The AH-64 is an army system. And besides, the Cobra doesn't require as much forward support as the Apache, according to unit readiness reports from the Gulf War. "Despite sandstorms and salt fog, the Super Cobra maintained a 92% mission-readiness rate, 24% better than the Army's more complex (and much better publicized) AH-64A Apache, which required continuous support by civilian contractor technicians."(Tom Clancy, MARINE A Guided Tour of a Marine Expeditionary Unit)

I don't have anything against the Apache, I like it, but doesn't it make more realistic sense to use units organic to the USMC?

Re: News from the PR front.

Theres going to be a AAS basra, thats news to me

Imi, the biggest implication will be that engineers will be able to attack tanks more easily and people soloing the tanks will be at even greater disadvantage

I think you found the answer there. They want you to play tactically and the cobra is easier to use in general, I agree. The view on the Apache is restrictive and the pilot can barely see the ground most of the time, I played with it on beta a fair bit.

Imagine you could only see the top 50% of your computer screen right now, thats how the apache is. You have pan back a bit and view in the distance or do a sharp turn and look out the side window, or use the minimap and ask your co-pilot. You can dive hard too but that usually loses your altitude fast

People need to learn not to take these big attack helis into the middle of a firefight on the front line, I dont think thats how they are supposed to be used

I just want a reskin really.

IED for game play should probably work like SLAMS with random timers, but I'm good with the phone in remote detonation too.

Re: News from the PR front.

Actually Tigger, if they were used correctly, you wouldn't see them very often, as they would be standing off and firing Hellfires (or the equivilent) as designated targets.

- The release will be soon. Finalising the (hopefully) final build at the moment.

Re: News from the PR front.

we put the apache in kashan 32, cause that is the only decent map that gives attack helicopters realistic manuevering room.

No I dont consider daqing oilfields a good map for attack helicopters :\
gulf of oman attack helicopters are necesary evil but because of the small map size and small view distance, they are not that great either...

the US army will be on kashan desert for v0.7, so its not that big of a deal to have USMC with apaches right now. Just be happy you get a new vehicle to play with ok :P
