Just kidding, it looks fine to me except for that white ball on the second red ribbon, located near the upper left corner. If that could go away (I don't know what source image you're using) then the picture would be a lot clearer and straightforward, and still have the cool white-out effect.

Dirti, keep the light source, without it the sig would look odd. Its a fine sig, maybe put the light behind the render, or lightly erase the lightsource layer on the render. Its great any way.

Have you tried using the "Diffuse Glow" distortion? It works very well for what you are going for. Also, as brain21 suggested, try making the "canvas size" far greater in the y-axis, add your lightsource, then cut the "canvas size" back down to the original size.

I made this sig for another forum but I just felt like sharing it  so if you have another forum that allows bigger sigs you can use mine

Oh yeah all the flying was done by me
