Personally, I can't wait to see what they have some up with. The folks at Battlefield did not exactly invent the wheel but they certainly made it a hell of alot better. It's now the standard for most MP FPS games.
I don't know about anyone else on this thread but I've played hundreds of hours of BF2/2142 and had a great time (and continue too). Probably more fun than any game I've played.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: Battlefield 3...in '08?
I LOVE bf2, and I've been playing the series since the good ole' days of 1942 and Vietnam, but I'm a little worried about this game. BF2 had allot of problems that they never really fixed, and some of the patches seemed to make it worse. I just hope that they take some more time to work out the bugs this time.

so if it's available in 08, POE3 should be out in 2010. So we can wait till 2010 for a GOOD, playable version :P

I used to eat paint chips. Now I just drink the paint because I couldn't find a salsa that went well with the chips and they were dry =)

Re: Battlefield 3...in '08?
That sounds about right (2010) and it still won't be *completely* stable.
I'd love to see a mixture of the more realistic environments of 2142 with the better gameplay of 2/POE/PR. What would really be nice is a "real" environment, with "destroyable" buildings similar to what I've seen in videos for Battlefield: Bad Company and COD4.
Just reviewed the features list, and it's supposed to run on Frostbite DX - the same engine used by EA for the Bad Company game. Should be interesting, being able to destroy the landscape and buildings.Last edited by thedogwarrior; 10-18-2007 at 04:52 PM. Reason: clarity

I hope this means SL to SL VOIP channel* Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are “Battalions” which consist of three to four squads.
The other thing I hope they do is make it so the commander has to stay put, like a commander's van or something they have to go into and stay in as commander

Re: Battlefield 3...in '08?
Hey guys, what if theyre putting the Spec Ops class in the Assault class this time, rather than the medic class, like in 2142? After all, Spec Ops IIISSS a form of assault. THe problem is, you will now have guys who have explosives as well as the best guns.

That sounds a lot like what we were promised for Tribes2/3 and, IMO, was dev time that should have been spent on the game itself.

The one thing I would like to see is semi-random maps. Just shifting trees around few feet would add some interest. Being able to designate a "range" where small buildings and other objects will be placed. Changing the firing arcs of in place weapons per map load. Giving a range where roads would be laid out so the twist and turns would be just a bit different.
Add destructible buildings with ruble providing varying cover and team work would become more important.I’m not racists, I have republican friends. Radio show host.

I know this thread is getting old but anyway I had also read in another article about BF3 that not only is it expecting to be for Vista only with no XP support but it could also have the option of chosing 64-bit or 32-bit OS. One of the first games to give an option for this which means will run better and smoother on 64-bit systems without completely leaving the 32-bit OS owners left in the cold.
Or so I read but I can't find the site again and plus it wasn't a well known site so I will believe it when/if a more well known site reports this information.
can't wait to see what ot will look like!!

I am getting Vista x64 when they release the SP, so hopefully I will be able to handle BF3 when it comes out. I am happy to see they have made each faction have different weapons, I hope that carries onto the unlocks, a bit silly when MEC guys are running around with F2000's(well, USMC having them is also strange). I don't mention 2142 because I hate that game ^_^
