    Most popular mod?

Hey guys I haven't been on in a while and just finished building myself a nice new gaming pc.

So the questions are: Is BF2 or BF2142 (whatever year it is) more popular? I can't find my BF2 disk (think I left it at my moms 2 or 3 years ago) so I have to rebuy in either case.

Also for BF2 what is the most popular/realistic mod? Should I download both PoE and PR? Are they both equally popular with TGers?

PoE2 and PR both have a large amount of players here at TG, but I would say the PR server is more active (generally full). PR is the most realistic, but some people find it too realistic (no crosshairs, large maps, long respawn times). I reccomend trying them both, they are both good fun.

Try them both is the right answer; they're both great and they're both free. The thing is, everybody here is likely to be biased one way or the other, so you're best off just experimenting. The TG communities for both mods is strong; the PR server gets more traffic.

I love PoE2!! I would suggest PR as well though. I keep trying PR but every time that I do I get in squad that is either going "lone wolf" style or is just not very forgiving to a n00b. Either one is not very fun and so I am just about giving up on PR.

Well if in 3 weeks you want to try it again, I will be back, and would be more than happy to have you in my squad

I have found out that if players don't get a good SL in PR when they start our, they lose interest for the game.

I will take you up on that. I really want to give it a fair shake before giving up on it.

I need alot of help. So if any of you guys are especially good at training people who want to excel at the game then please give me a shout.

Also does anyone else have a thrustmaster cougar that they use with BF2 and it's mods? I'm having trouble configuring mine.

    Re: Most popular mod?

BF2 by far has more players than BF2142, nearly double...

check game monitor for population stats...

PR gets around 600 players a night, POE2 gets around 150 players a night, FH2 around 200 players a night.... those are the most popular.

try all the mods, theres unfortunately very few BF2 players who even realize mods EXIST!!!

PR, POE2, FH2, DCON, battleracer, pirates, etc etc

im still waiting on the lego mod

    Re: Most popular mod?

In regards to PR try it first and never look back is my opinion ... Whiskey Six did the community a great service by providing this post on 3 1 2008 ... just a few days after your post

    I'm to dense to figure out how to link it something about a URL anyway I copied and pasted it.. It is located at BF2 Forum / Project Reality Mod / and is located under the Sticky area ... {How to get Started}

How to get started with the Project Reality Mod (for free!) by Whiskey Six

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Download and install the latest patch for BF2 - currently that's 1.41. (536MB)
    SM Download (TacticalGamer.com)
    Public Download (EA.com)

    2) Download and install the PR Client and Levels - Version 0.708
    SM Download (TacticalGamer.com)
    Public Download

    3) Check out the Player's Guide (including Video Guides!)

    4) Familiarize yourself with the Server Rules and general expectations:

    Teamwork and maturity are required.
You must join a squad within 90 seconds or be auto-kicked.
You must obey your Squad Leader's and Commander's orders.
Although not required, using in-game VOIP is highly encouraged!
We have reserved slots in place for Supporting Members.
The server is full at 62/64. Joining with 62/64 players will cause you to be auto-kicked after loading. When this happens, just keep trying!
If a Supporting Member joins when the server is full, it kicks the longest-playing Non-Supporting Member.
Supporting Members themselves are never kicked to make room for other players. Be sure to enter you BF2 Player ID in your profile if you are a supporting member.

    5) Join us on the server
    Name: "TacticalGamer.com - PR .7b - 62 Open Slots"
    IP: 64.34.161.157
    Port: 16567

    6) Have Fun!

Well both POE and PR are very popular. PR is the most realistic though. I would give both of them a try if I were you.

    +1

There's something to suit all play styles so pick the one that you enjoy the most. Or play 'em both even!
