Exclamation I have noticed 1942 is not dead...

Guys, I have noticed that battlefield 1942 is not dead. It is far from it. Eve of Destruction is giving face lifts to 1942, and it is looking good for its age. Serious! a Russian add-on made these changes:

    EoD help: http://www.eod-classic.de.vu/

Something to consider, the newest patches is 8 days old ( May/18/2008). R
    download this:

    then the newest:

EoD is being revamped for Battlefield 2, too. Their website is here:

    Try to watch the video:

Desert Combat, is doing well too. I have never played DC or its expansions, but they have high rankings.

The odd thing about DC, you must install each patch...

here is a place to download DC:

    then download this:

    then:

Sorry, but for me no ingame voice or squad system is not a battlefield game in my eyes.

I heard that Desert Combat really kicks butt. Although i never really tried it out. I heard that you can load a jeep into a C-130, fly and then drop it off without crashing. Imagine that....

Do you really want invincible bears running around raping your churches and burning your women?

That's an ignorant view since 1942 was the first battlefield game. That's like saying Terminator is not a Terminator movie because John Conner wasn't in it.
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Ya, and that is why Teamspeak came into existence.

Let me know if any one is interested.

bf1942 has the best air combat for sure!
When you can't run, you walk. When you can't walk, you crawl and when you can't do that, you get someone to carry you.

I have a BF1942 server already installed and patched. If you want me to kick it into a DC server or something, just say the word!

I might buy 1942 sometime then, if this Desert Combat mod is as good as you say.

DC is hella fun, even if their Shilka is nerfed beyond all belief. (Never liked the air combat though.)

    lol

I wouldn't have worded it the way Google did but I think I understand what he is saying. BF 1942 is nowhere near as conducive to squad play as BF2. Sure, you can use TS2 but just look at Frontlines to see how effective that is; I think people just don't want to mess with different channels. The fact is BF2 has spoiled us with the built in squad support which includes voice comms.

Now what I want is a BF2 version of BF 1942!

WoW Maybe we can get the server going if the boys want to play.

I was talking to the lead modder for EoD classic the other day, named Lotte. He is a nice person. I asked some questions on what the 1942 engine is capable of, and he told me that the engine does not support that level of active in-game menus. Let alone set up a voice system.

Yeah 1942 was my first bf game as well. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I just find that Bf2 and Bf2142 are so much better with their new engines and the squad system/ingame voip plus a commander is a lot easier than using Teamspeak...
