Problem Squad Members
It is sad that I have to bring this topic to the forums and get the community's view on this. Disrespect the squad leading and language (f word). With the exception of Zedic who is very negative and treats us like crap.

Anyway, sometimes one of my squad members will use the f word. I give them a friendly polite reminder to please watch the language a bit. Typical response:I don't have to take no (insert f language here) orders from a (insert f language here) twelve year old. Now while I don't mind them projecting me younger than I am, it is the language and disrespect I kick them for from the squad. After that usually the rest of the squad starts disrespecting me and I can't take it. It came to one point in the TG PR Server that I had to kick the whole squad and just leave before I exploded. The main reason I kicked the whole squad too is because it had my squad name. Its getting very frustrating I know VOIP is hard to control but maybe we can start reporting people for foul langauge in VOIP?

Re: Problem Squad Members
Sounds like you are doing the right thing. If people are misbehaving according to our rules you should do excatly what you did. But that sort of behaviour is difficult to report i know.
As for people not respecting you i think the main problem lies in that there aren't many your age that are mature and therefore they have a problem listening to you. Us Euros have the same sort of problem with the language.
I know it's tough, but hang in there man! It gets better as people get to know you and you know who you enjoy playing with. And you can always just change squads or they can change squads if it gets too frustrating.

Re: Problem Squad Members
This is not the ethos of TG.
All members are equal, age does not matter at all here.
We are mature players, we respect eachother and we follow the chain of command.
This is a violation of the TG Primer, the rules, and should be addressed properly with the admins.
Of course, that's why we have a "Reporting Infractions" section in our forums.
Please do so. Here: Report Infractions (this is also in my sig, and also a link for contact the game admins).
Again, please ALLWAYS REPORT these kind of behaviour. TG does not need these kind of un-matture members.
Reminder:
Never report infractions on public, no names, no hate, flame, etc. Just make your report and handle this privately with the admins. The will happily sort these issues out.Last edited by Rasta-GR; 08-26-2008 at 08:52 AM. Reason: Bold, add more stuff :)

Re: Problem Squad Members
Quite agree with all that's said here, I warn people about language all the time. It's not just your apparent age either, Fighter--people just don't like to be reminded of the language rule. I get backtalk, joking and challenges all the time when I mention it, but I also get a good number of people agreeing and trying to do better. That's good enough for me.
I've found that being hesitant, like "Um, guys we kinda have a rule about swearing, so maybe you can try not to do it so much?" meets with less success than being firm and polite, like a schoolteacher with a problem student. "Rasta, we have a rule against swearing in this server so that everyone can enjoy playing here. Some of us have kids, and we don't want them to hear that. Please make an effort to follow the rules of the server."
If it keeps happening, THEN you tell them they need to leave the squad, but again, make them the person who is in the wrong but being emotionally detached, and make it about them, not you.
"OK, I can see you have a hard time controlling what comes out of your mouth. I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing any effort to respect the other players here. "
"Until you can respect others, you need to play elsewhere."
"You're acting as if somehow the rules don't apply to you, and that attitude doesn't belong on a server where maturity and respect are required."
"Man, I'd really like playing with you if you were making anb effort to follow the rules--I like you, but I don't like the fact that you haven't stopped cursing. Come back when you're ready to follow the rules."
If we make it personal, that it's because they aren't listening to US, then that's when your age and voice might get in the way. When you remind them that the whole community expects this of them, then you have a lot more clout--all of TG is backing you up.
Also, making them WANT to follow the rules means not attacking them or making them feel defensive. No one wants to be seen as a jerk, everyone wants acceptance and to have friends. Use that as incentive for them to change their behavior.
Good luck, and if you ever need back-up in POE, let me know.

Re: Problem Squad Members
Please dont... no seriusly im begging you. I cant help it I have been talking like this my whole life I cant stop swearing when I play. Sorry but I cant and I forget to take my hand of the Voip key so my squad have to listen to it.maybe we can start reporting people for foul langauge in VOIP?
Thou im not disrespectful of people, or I dont think I am. But I call people an id*ot when they are acting like one. Usually its not that bad but still. I can not see why we should not say it as it is.
And yes I know this is against the primer and im probably going to get in trouble for this.If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: Problem Squad Members
The TG rules extend to VOIP. Language must be mature. We are pretty good at reminding people of that.
It is pretty easy to report the offending people to an admin either by global chat or Team speak
A quick type up reporting the problem in global chat per the in game reporting format, or disussion on teamspeak with an admin will help deal with this issue.
If you desire an admin can always drag you to a private teamspeak channel and discuss the issue with you.
Another option is to send a PM to an admin discussing the problem in detail.
We should all make sure we treat other players with respect and keep comments to a minimum to allow everyone else an enjoyable game experience.

Not going to lie I'm guilty of the occasional expletive, mostly due to a surprise attack or an amazing stunt.

Re: Problem Squad Members
I want no swearing on *MY* servers. Yep, they're all mine. But please take the swearing elsewhere. One day your own child may be playing here, do you want your own children to learn such behaviour? I don't.

Re: Problem Squad Members
Im sorry but their as much mine as your

Right now im not thinking about having children so I cannot answer that. But I would like to think I wouldnt mind since they would be listening to me anyway
I do not think there is nothing imature in calling things what they are. And also I do not see anything imature in swearing since what is a bad word (dont know how its spelled) was decided long ago and I do not thing that the same set of morals can be applied to the modern world. On the other hand I do not think people should start namecalling or saying things like what mr fighter described.
If someone ask me to stop I would probably try but no one have as of yet.If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: Problem Squad Members
Never confuse what I said. I said I curse occasionally, when -surprised- or -amazed-. Like when a guy suddenly drops from the sky and knifes me, causing me to unconciously mutter said expletive.

Yea, we all know where the limits are.
We are here for tactics and fun and I do not think any of us is so "purist"
Have fun, just do not over-reacting, in purpose and repeatedly.
But wait,
They're are ... ours.
