what if anything made you lose interest in vbf2

for me it was when they made the pkm a sniper rifle, made sniper rifles super accurate (which they should have been from the beginning anyway) eliminated bunny hopping and dolphin diving by preventing you from jumping and shooting, and then finally when they elimated c4 tossing.

those things made the game fun and challenging to play. I think im one of the few people who didn't have a problem killing a dolphin diver. yes that was cheezy as hell, but there was an easy way to kill them. c4 tossing gave the game a fun little side show.

when I started playing the game I was ranked in the top 10k players, after the patch where they changed jumping and shooting, pkm sniper rifles etc. you pretty much had to change the way you played the game, then they eliminated c4 tossing, once again, change the dynamic of the game. They did so much to nerf any fun feature out of the game and benefit noob players who would sit in tanks all day racking up points. at least with c4 tossing you could kill a tank from behind a wall. after they changed it you pretty much could drop it at your feet and thats it.

I think overall the game lost its luster when I had to relearn how to play the game and change my playing style because of the stupid noob changes that they made to placate the babies that couldn't hang with the big boys. Thats pretty much when I uninstalled the game and I only reinstall it from time to time to fly around in the jets.

I lost a lot of interest in 'nilla when I discovered the mods and this TG community, and primarily PoE2 at that. Vanilla's still a good game though, and I give it a go now and then.

Dilly, a few of those 'noob changes' you lament fit in pretty well with a lot of our core ideals here, and the way we play the game. (I'm sure you've seen how we cut the feet off the bunnies around here!)

Team up with good squad and see if you can have fun with that play style. Moving together, having a plan, and making it work is pretty fun for most of us here. In fact, it's why most of us are here.

Might want to revisit the SOPs, or just play with Tg for a while in any game.
I stopped BF2 to move on to 2142. I am now getting back into play after being AFK for almost 2 years.

    Try POE, its fun

Poor support, unfixed bugs, lack of new content, hackers, Tkillers, the list goes on and on..

Its too bad, I really enjoyed playing the Special Forces expansion and booster packs.. too bad hardly an server runs these games any longer. Never really liked vanilla BF2 in the first place.

Re: what if anything made you lose interest in vbf2

I just bought the game and love it, I have been playing BF2142 for 6-7 months or so and got BF2 vanilla as I just wanted something a bit different, new maps etc.
Sure there are hackers and bunnyhoppers and divers, but it just makes it more rewarding when you take out those suckers half way through a dive or hop.
I am gonna install poe2 because I seen a friend of mine playing both poe and pr, but poe seemed more busy than pr, but who knows I might give pr a go too.

    It's all good....

Lost interest when I got into PR at 0.756 and PoE2 not too long after that, seeing how many people got in the ts channel every night to play it. Not too long after that everyone stopped coming to ts.

TacMod, and then POE2 just did so many things better, and the maps were getting so very old. That's the main reason I don't play 2142 anymore as well.

Stagnation is a real game-killer for me.

Radical bunny hopping, hacks, general nade-spamming and worse, blindly nade-spamming the red-dot cloud of the UAV going off every 2 seconds. Then I found TG and POE--the solution to all my troubles.
Looking forward to the successful launch of the new TG-style vanilla.

Pretty much all that was said, along with the round just going by so damn fast, a lot of rushing to here, rushing to there, i like the slower pace of PR, though vBF2 is really a catalyst to mass multiplaying FPS. This should be interesting, ill be using my old name since i don't have any bf2 playing time with my current name.

i found it difficult finding a good server where people joined squads and communicated etc.
also i found the maps quite small most of time and found myself wishing we could go further out there...thats all i can remember anyway

I played vanilla at TG for a while, but when the expansion packs were introduced and I had to sit out every other map I lost allot of interest. Combine that with the Tac Mod losing steam I ended up drifting away from BF2 for a while. As soon as I heard about Project Reality though I came back and have been loving it, as Ferris said it's just a better breed of battlefield!

Didn't ever loose interest, really. I liked POE2 a lot but I still wanted to play vanilla. The problem was that nobody else did! I really liked playing the Special forces expansion, but not many others did.

The above and a new baby. Priorities.
