Asset destruction question
Is a soldier allowed to steal a vehicle in the opposing UCB for the sole purpose of escaping after they destroyed the enemies assets?

Re: Asset destruction question
Rules say:
Link to rules:Players acting within their commander's authorization MAY attack structures (UAV Trailer, Radar Dish & Artillery) within the enemy UCB, vehicles within the UCB are OFF LIMITS.

So would say no. Or are you thinking about something more specific Hitest?

Not speaking for Test, but there was at least a couple of cases recently of people departing in choppers and buggies after destroying assets.
*If* I'm reading the rules correctly, it would appear that if you have the intent of entering the UCB to destroy assets you can leave in a vehicle.

Re: Asset destruction question
Yesterday on Wake Island, we were Chinese and were sneaking across to the island to blow up the American arty. We planned on hijacking a boat to make good our escape after the dirty deed was done (although we were killed before we could grab one).
Was/is that against the rules?
To me, that tells me that I can go into the enemy base to blow up their structures (UAV, arty etc.) but that I cannot be in your base just to a)kill your doodz or b) blow up your vehicles to put you at a disadvantage. Maybe some clarification would be helpful.Players acting within their commander's authorization MAY attack structures (UAV Trailer, Radar Dish & Artillery) within the enemy UCB, vehicles within the UCB are OFF LIMITS.
Also, were these rules written for vBF2, PoE2 or PR? Because in PR if someone steals your Humvee that's much more of a loss to your team that if they stole one in Vanilla.

Re: Asset destruction question
I would think the fast movers (boat/buggy/humvee) are ok, but not the APC/helo.

Re: Asset destruction question
Not really. It just seems odd that i can enter an UCB, solely for the purpose of destroying assets, but then i have to leave on foot. Highway Tampa is a friggin big map and the UCB for the USMC is wide open flat terrrain. It seems like this rule has a gray area, well at least to me it does.

Re: Asset destruction question
I think what that rule is trying to convey is to only destroy assets other than vehicles. I think that a theft of a fast mover is reasonable in order to escape. Just abandon that vehicle upon return to a safe zone so it can respawn at their base.Players acting within their commander's authorization MAY attack structures (UAV Trailer, Radar Dish & Artillery) within the enemy UCB, vehicles within the UCB are OFF LIMITS.|TG-12th| jmaker

Re: Asset destruction question
You guys' memory is getting flakey
The rule for BF2 is (and has always been) simple with no shades of gray:
Do not steal ANY enemy vehicles from the UCB.

Re: Asset destruction question
I think that should be adjusted, considering that's from the olden days, and we do allow this on 2142, I say the rule should be revised just for a fast mover to be used.

Re: Asset destruction question
Yea, should probably at least think about it. The rule in 2142 has worked well.

Re: Asset destruction question
You can use a fast mover to get in the UCB, destroy assets and use the FAV you brought in to escape.
Regardless - I also recall that it was allowed to take a FAV to escape from an asset destruction mission in BF2 back in the days.TG-E1st TacticalGamer European Division | Watch this (pretty old) video to find out what TG is all about
