Hey change the script!!
I got kicked for not being in a team yesterday. Thing is how can I be in a team when I just changed sides? Can this be changed?
Thx.Jex.

This is a "the events don't fire the way pokerface thinks they do" problem.

I'm headed out of town Thursday evening; my dream is to push a fix out the door before then. But it's just a dream right now, and I'm not guaranteeing that date.

Re: Hey change the script!!
There does seem to be a bug when trying to change teams. Right now we feel that we can deal with this occurence rather than open up the servers to squadless play. Poker does have this on his list to get fixed. We'll get there and thanks for everyone's patience.

Yeah keep the squads, that's an excellent way to get the teamwork going and I think this squad thing is what make this game so much better than the original

The safest way to change teams is before you ever spawn for the first time. That way, you're never "dead". It's the only way I've been able to change teams.

Re: Hey change the script!!
I was with Jex when it happened. He accidentally switched teams and was kicked for not being in a squad. I've written a script that will kick squadless players and it handles the events differently. It will not kick players when switching teams. The check just has to be done at a different time. Check the player when he spawns and set a timer to kick him a short period after. He gets the warning and won't get kicked if he joins a squad before the second check. Checking the player's status at death is not good since a change teams event also calls a player death event.

Re: Hey change the script!!
So it would seem. My plan was originally to tag someone when they joined a squad and to see if that tag was there for the team-switching, but a timer would be just as handy. Good idea, Sarc.

Ah Sarc beat me too it. But I agree wih him, timer and warnng sounds good.
When I get home people'll ask me, "Hey, why do ya do it man? Why? Just some war junkie?" Ya know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.

Same here.

Re: Hey change the script!!
If it's set to check on player spawn, you can spend all the time you want as long as you pick your team and squad before you spawn. Checking on player spawn ensures that the player intended to be on a squad or not without accidentally tripping the script when changing sides or switching squads in between lives.
