Maps we'd like removed from Rotation

Guys, I'm sure we all have maps we absolutely hate and groan each time we see it being loaded as the next map. It might be a good idea to get the one or 2 maps that everyone seems to disklike and take them out so we'll have less time to wait till Strike at Karkand comes around again

Right now the maps I disklike are (most diskliked one first)

    >Operation Cleansweep - Too much running around, To be honest I just disklike it greatly nto sure exactly why.
    >Songshua Stalemate - Same reason as above
    >Fushe Pass - Large and too many flags. If the server is not full to capacity u sometimes go relatively long stretches w/o seeing the enemy.

I also tend to dislike maps where one side doesn't have a UCB. This means Kubra Dam and Dragon Valley. But they're not as bad as the ones above.

Sharqi Peninsula is technically also like that BUT its a city map so it balances out. I love city maps

Since the prob with those top 3 maps for me is related to size it might be better if we ran the 32 player versions of them on server #1

On a related note I love:
    > Strike at Karkand - INTENSE close in fighting.
    > Mashtuur - see above
    > Dalian Plant - flat land, decent medium range fighting, not much AA esp mobile AA and choppers for all *drools*
    > Gulf of Oman - fairly balanced and somewhat varied and I've had a softspot for it since the demo

Put ur most hated maps here and maybe we can get them removed.

    Hate:
Kubra Damn - Too easy to degenerate into vehicle battles, most rounds on this map have too little infantry interaction
Songhua Stalemate - 0 visibility really bugs me

    Like:
Strike at Karkand - my favorite map
Sharqi - i like the layout
Gulf of Oman - demo nostalgia / sniper heaven

I like Kubra, then again I almost always experience it from a helo, so my perspective is a bit different.

I don't know the map names, but I do like maps that have 1 UCB per side.

Ones that I know and like:
    Strike at Karkand
    Gulf of Oman
    Dalian Plant

I like FuShe Pass A lot, but like you said, only when its full. It is easy to feel alone on a map like that.

    Like my other post says:

    REMOVE: Songhua Stalemate

I wouldn't mind seeing Operation Cleansweep, Kubra Dam and Dragon Valley removed, I have yet to play an enjoyable and/or fun round on one of these, they usually just drag on ad nauseam.

Karland, Sharqi and Mashtuur on the other hand are the best, whenever I see one of these in the "loading" screen I giggle like a kid, they're fun fun fun!

Regarding Fushe Pass, I was trying to catch up with my team (I got in a tank near the chinese airbase) for next to 15 minutes yesterday - I'll say it again, 15 minutes, bloody hell! It felt like a Joint Ops 150 map oddity deja-vu minus the 130 players. Mind you, it really is a great map but blitzkrieg flag tactics don't work when the server is half-empty, so the overall experience in general is pretty lame.

    Anything with aircraft.
As much as I enjoy whoring aircraft, 32 vs 32 is a platoon engagement, and having a whole freakin air force is not very appropriate. Maybe a single transport helo per team.

I play mostly grunt or gunner.

    Hate:
1)Zatar - It's a moonscape and once you're out there, there isn't much to do but get shot. You spend all your time like its WWI running as fast as you can across no-man land. It's a great map if you need target practice in a helicopter or jet. The real deciding factor is how many ground forces your aircraft can kill before they reach your flags. If air superiority is ever achieved the other team is in for a loooong painful death. It's something akin to the American Buffalo, your ground forces are those buffalo running across the great plain and the aircraft are the evil army of bored white hunters who are bent on getting as many trophies as possible before the buffalo go completely extinct.

2)Songhua - For reasons mentioned in other posts.

    Love:
    1)Karkand
    2)Oman
    3)Dalian Plant

Re: Maps we'd like removed from Rotation

I really don't have enough of a problem with any of the maps to call for removal... There *are* only 12, I don't want to cut down the variety any more than I have too.

It's really all about the people you play with, I've had good *and* bad experiences on every single map.

The only thing I might want to have looked into is if there might be someway to better "randomize" the map's timings and/or order. It might just be my imagination, but during the weekdays when I play on a fairly regular time schedule it just feels like I'm playing the same 4 or 5 every day at the same time. =/
Combat is very simple, there is a first place and a second place. Second place is laying face down in the mud...sometimes, so is first place.

Kubra Dam is the worst. Nothing but vehicles. Most of the time when it rolls around I have a good excuse to stop playing for the night.

    7. Criticism: [FDB]Raub, MEC FDB squad leader. For doing almost nothing constructive with your squad. I know, I joined it. You played as sniper, and never gave your squad orders or objectives or led them in almost any way. Go do that on the pubs, pls.

The admin team is currently looking at the map rotation and has some ideas that we'll make public when we reach a conclusion...

... but please continue to post your comments.

Re: Maps we'd like removed from Rotation

A possible solution would be to use the 32 player version of some maps on the 64 player server. I noticed this after playing the 64 man Gulf of Oman map for the first time after playing the 32 version in the demo with 64 players. For the most part...the "demo map" felt far better suited for a 32 on 32 battleground. Too much flag hopping...

Re: Maps we'd like removed from Rotation

One thing that many people still forget about these 64 players maps with a ton of CPs is that a team only needs 50%+1 flags to make the tix bleed. Defending four flags on Oman shouldn't be a problem. Flag hopping on these maps are because of restless players and COs that aren't aware of how many CPs are needed.

Songhua Stalemate is the only map that I truly hate. If you're not in a helicopter, it takes you forever and a day to get anywhere because of all the twists and turns.

While I dislike Kubra Dam because of its massiveness (this map seems bigger than even Clean Sweep), I have had some of my best firefights there.

I do not like the map with jungle fight and fog... I need to learn the map names...

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.
