Server Message
this though just struck me yesterday when joining up. right now our server message only says you need to join squads etc etc. why not add to it that you NEED to go to our site to read the rules or expect to be kicked (or something along those lines) right now the server message doesn't mention needing to go anywhere to read any rules or anything of the sort.

Re: Server Message
Because we can only fit so much into the message before it gets cut off. We are right at the limit now.

3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Server Message
I don't even notice the messages stuff scrolls so fast. The MOTD is something I always notice since load times are longer than other games.
How about staggering the message displays? At one message interval, display the warning about squad kicks and the next interval display the message about visiting the website and reading the SOP's.
Oh, you are talking about the MOTD. Doh.

Re: Server Message
I think you could fit some rules in the upper right hand corner, and maybe a couple rules in really small font on the graphic, and then maybe you could have some more rules just randomly pop in the middle of the screen while playing.
If you make it, they will come. I don't think you have to shove it down their throats, its all on the website.
Any ex-bunny hoppers here who saw the light? I doubt it. Usually that ilk just go hop somewhere else.

Re: Server Message
Maybe we can get StrikeFear and his squadron to fly some planes. We'll attatch a scrolling marquee announcing that every hour random woodland creatures will be stealing all the vehicles in game for 5 minutes. If someone doesn't understand, Strike can let loose the bombs...Maybe not though.
