Get a pay raise for playing BF2!
Ok, so maybe I exagerated by saying you can get a pay raise, but here's what I'm really wondering:
Does playing BF2 help anyone out there to complete their real world responsibilities any better?
The main thing I'm wondering about is for people who maybe felt not super comfortable in a command (SL/CO) position, but took those spots anyways, and after a while found themselves growing into it. Then later, say in a meeting at work, they found that they were able to be much sharper mentally, and were able to process and categorize information much more smoothly, as well as layout action plans and assign tasks and stuff.
I know that I had a meeting recently where I just kind of took charge and I think that we were able to have a very productive meeting, without wasting a lot of everyone's time.
I'm not saying it's all BF2, but I kinda feel like being in those Command positions helped me to immediately launch into a similar mindset, where it's all about getting a job a done, and what is the best way to do it.
Hey, maybe I should get my company to set up a corporate BF2 server. It would be a team-building exercise.
Anyways, do any of you guys sometime feel the same way?

I felt so confident that I brought in my personal sniper rifle and some claymores to work...boy that didn't go over too well

JMJ, can you tell us which post-office you work at? I might need to take a different work to work.

don't think i've ever seen such tight security for a post-office.
When I get home people'll ask me, "Hey, why do ya do it man? Why? Just some war junkie?" Ya know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.

I think that's an interesting idea. Leadership takes practice, and BF2 teamwork requires a lot of the same elements you'd find in any organized group of people. You have to communicate with your team, make decisions relatively quickly, improvise your CO's orders when the situation calls for it, etc. It's a little weird giving orders to people you've never met before, and there's no telling whether the stuff you get handed down from your CO is going to make sense. You have to explain what's going on to people who nominally have to follow your orders but in practice could blow you off or go somewhere else. In BF2 you're supposed to look out for your squad, but you also have to stay alive and do your share of the work.

Actually, I find that commanding and leading squads is too much like work. That's why I prefer to be a grunt.

The difference to work being an SL is that things happen much more quickly. And when you screw up at work you don't get only -4 points for teamkill ...
Otherwise I think SL is like being project manager. You plan ahead, prepare and then you hope your team executes. In a steady rhythm you make decisions and talk to the boss.Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

This damn guy keeps getting to the copy machine before I can, the conference rooms and the fax machine. I tried to lock the squads and doors but security came...

Ya, I've become a very confident leader at work, but I'm not sure how helpful it is when I miss my 10 AM meetings after playing BF2 until 1 AM. Maybe if I show up more, I'll get a raise.

Just move those middle-manager assets to the UCB (un-cappable boardroom). And C4 the conference room. Always C4 the conference room.

I've actually found myself a lot more forward with my opinions at work since I started playing this game. I also take a lot less stupid crap from people as well. It's worked out for the better, as far as I'm concerned.
I'm of the opinion that games and recreational activities can bring a lot into your normal life.

And the twitch skills that you can develop are very helpful in closing the internet browser quickly when your boss walks past.
