In the Marines (and the army, too, I think), infantrymen, regardless of specialty, are referred to as grunts.

Imageshack should host them pretty reliably as long as they're continually referenced. They only purge unused images, and I think that's only after three months...

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
Here's something I've been playing with.. I've made a sorta dynamic signature in the following form:
http://webmasterp.com/tg/banner|flag|rank|class.png
So if you want the first banner listed, Canadian flag, CO, and sniper:
http://www.webmasterp.com/tg/0|canada|co|sniper.png
Looks like this:

Second banner, UK flag, squad member, engineer:
http://webmasterp.com/tg/1|uk|sm|engineer.png
Looks like this:

First banner is 0, second is 1 (first parameter)
Flag choices are aussie, canada, uk, usa (second parameter)
Rank choices are co, sl, sm (third parameter)
class choices are at, engineer, medic, sniper, specops, support, assault (fourth parameter)
For right now, I'd rather that ya'll not hotlink from my website.. just save the produced image and host it on your own. Each image is PHP generated when it is requested.. not sure how happy my poor little website would be with the thousands of requests ya'll could generate
Not sure how useful this will be, but have fun because that's the main reason I decided to mess around
Oh yea, I'm working on the transparency thing.. it looks kinda bad with the black bars between the images, IMHO.. Gotta figure that out, so this may be broken at times as I'm messing around.

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
awsome perry, my inital idea was dynamic generation, but im lacking the skills with code and dont have any server side space to test things on, i love that fact that everyone in the TG community can bring something to the table to help their fellow players
edit: thanks to whichever admin stickied my thread

As a supporting member, you have free web/ftp space here at TG. You can host everything at TG where the access should be pretty darn quick.

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
Xink - I got in touch with Sabre Six and filled him in. I'd imagine he'll be posting with his advice soon. You should take that over mine, but I was thinking maybe using these:
Armor: Cavalry
AtkHelos: Air Cavalry
Jets: "Fast Mover" or "Aviator""You live and learn. Or you don't live long."

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
sounds good to me, i know cymba wanted one to show his attack chopper greatness, seeing as you flyboys wont be on the ground much, is it fair to replace an infantry specialist badge with one of the above?

Umm "preference for the attack chopper" please. I leave the 'greatness' to Phelan, DarkViper etc

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
Well, I wanted a 'jack of all trades' because I'm willing and able to do everything although I haven't mastered any particular kit or vehicle like some. In the end I created a self-deprecating 'speciality' banner; it's double size though, so it may take some tweaking to fit into the standard modular layout:

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
http://webmasterp.com/tg/ - there, a little HTML page for generating the images automatically.. the other way I posted still works too..
http://webmasterp.com/tg/2|nor|co|sniper.png

Can I use htaccess and php stuff on the SM webhosting?
Still not sure how to do the transparency. Anyone php image gurus have any ideas?Last edited by perry; 09-14-2005 at 04:17 PM.

Re: Battlefield 2 Modular Sig Design [56k Warning]
I created a half-decent slovenian flag (in my sig), you're free to add it to your script perry. Although I have serious doubts about meeting any co-nationals of mine here on TG!
