Post Buggy Racing - Times and rules

Buggy racing is basicly a few guys racing from flag to flag. They can be on different teams as well. There are a couple of race types.

-Race Battle : The Buggies guns are manned and you fight as you go to the finish point

-Traps : A team of people hide along the route and launch traps at buggies coming eg. tanks, choppers etc.

-Normal : No traps or guns allowed just a pure race.

You can basicly do what ever you want to get there, if you can use guns use them or just bash them off the track.

To start just all line up have have some guy shout or beep when to go or a guy to throw a grenade and when that blows you all go.

    Times -
So far this has only been going on 1 or 2 days before the server fills up with maybe 16 to 3 people on.

I get on about 5 GMT. So if you want to race just try and get on that time and later.

Any ideas for new types of race etc. just post.

Yeah that was big fun today, especially battle race and traps. I'm looking forward for the next time.
Some more traps would spice it up. It shouldn't be too devastating but not too easy either - and especially random kinda. Such as two tanks blocking the streets suddenly and you have to drive on a sidetrack for a bit or so.
The best moment I remember was when you guys jumped off the bridge and wrecked your car as well as on the first battlerace when the jeep in front of us started burning and a tank suddenly coming from the rightened side, taking his right to cross the intersection first and running over the jeep.

i was on today and raced with shock.....it was a blast (im pretty partial to battlerace, where you use guns) but all the races were a real hoot. any of you who are getting a little tired of the same old maps might look at them a little differently if youre looking for the absolute fastest route from one flag to another, all the while avoiding other buggies and 50 cal fire

Shock, im all about trying oman tomorrow i think that ones gonna be a good racing map

Yeah the map choice is vital I believe.
Imagine a map like the dam or the Fushe (?) pass where you have really narrow streets and if you take a wrong turn you fall down the mountain.

A relay race might be fun in battlerace. One person is the baton. Once a buggy is getting low on health they have to transfer the batonplayer to the next friendly buggy.

How do the US vs. OPFOR buggies balance out? I'd think the OPFOR would be superior in battle because of the 360 movement on the .50. As far as the HMMVV vs. OPFOR truck goes I still think the OPFOR would have a slight advantage with more enclosing rear armor. How it seems anyway. Do they have any less obvious performance differences?

I think a battlerace in the trucks would be fun tossing C4 at each other. And/or grenade launchers and rockets. Have you guys tried that?

Man, now that's an idea! We gotta try that out! For today, we only used all kind of jeeps/buggys.

    Sounds like fun!

My suggestion would be to have non-attack choppers involved and require them to use only the non-gunner positions, so they are allowed to drop C4 and Mines and fire AT guns.
    Peace through fear... since 1947!

I watched guys race Vodniks on the 16 player Oman map during a team practice last Sunday. That was pretty funny. I popped one with a tank

I guess one should add something:
this race thing is (probably) mainly used when there aren't enough people on the server for serious BF2 gaming.

I thought you won by making it back first? The other guy went completely out of bounds

I'd like to particpate in our next buggy racing event. How about the possiblity of a 7th vs 42nd --or any other team vs team matchup for that matter-- buggy racing style?
