Google Earth & BF2 sites?
I have seen a couple of discussions about Google Earth in the forums. But no one came up with the obvious: are the BF2 maps based on real places? I found that in Dalian China there really are power plants. Is there a Sharqi peninsula? Has any one found Fushe pass?
Maybe one day in the future we can organize a TG trip to visit the real dragon valley - and maybe stage a paintball tournament.Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

Dalian, China: 38°58'28.66"N 121°40'47.78"E
Sharqi Peninsula: 25°34'9.44"N 56°18'40.43"E
The UAE also extends for about ninety kilometers along the Gulf of Oman, an area known as the Al Batinah coast. The Al Hajar al Gharbi (Western Al Hajar) Mountains, rising in places to 2,500 meters, separate the Al Batinah coast from the rest of the UAE. Beginning at the UAE-Oman border on the Persian Gulf coast of the Musandam Peninsula (Ras Musandam), the Al Hajar al Gharbi Mountains extend southeastward for about 150 kilometers to the southernmost UAE-Oman frontier on the Gulf of Oman. The range continues as the Al Hajar ash Sharqi (Eastern Al Hajar) Mountains for more than 500 kilometers into Oman. The mountain slopes tend to run right to the shore. Nevertheless, there are small harbors at Diba al Hisn, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan on the Gulf of Oman. In the vicinity of Fujeirah, where the mountains do not approach the coast, there are sandy beaches.Become a supporting member!

Re: Google Earth & BF2 sites?
Here is a thread from totalbf2 that talks about some of the real places. There's a screen shot in there of Dalian from Google Earth.
Dalian is actually a coal plant, although that link doesn't work for me right now.
Dragon Valley exists.
So does Daqing.

Daqing: Now, we are dedicated to making Daqing of a garden city of

Re: Google Earth & BF2 sites?
You just don't want us to see your campin... errr.. sniping spot, Trooper. But if we squint, we can see you over there on the mountain.. See:

And isn't that Bommando there making a video? Beatnik's there in the yellow listening to orders from Commander Bommando.. ultrablue down there behind Bommando in the blue shirt (surprise!) with the medic backpack -- see, he's always near the SL and CO -- and the shock paddles in his hand. Bubba's there in the pink with the ammo bag.. Such a flattering color
