Re: New private ranking system
I also like stats BUT a long time ago, before I found Tactical Gamers I use to play on ranked servers with a different bunch of guys ... their names elude me since it's been so long and game play was great .. teamwork and all and then I noticed, for instance, this one guy was running around and tossing frags at HUMMERS and VODNIKS just so he could whip out his wrench and repair it just to get "POINTS" and an engineer medal .... that was the day that I left ....
I would bet my house that slowly but surely, and with the influx of ' Public Players " that game play would slowly diminish to worrying about scores .....
I pay my $8.95 per month for the BEST TEAMPLAY around ....and would like it to stay that way .....
Not an attack on you, BHACK .... just the way I feel about the "STAT SYSTEM"

Re: New private ranking system
I have absolutely no idea why some of you (snail excluded) are taking my post of "hey guys new private ranking system was just released today, which creates a local stats server emulating EA's ranked stats system, which we could run on our server" into me trying to hock personal achievement over team goals.
I actually just thought it would be more of a 'neato, look how many hours I waste on TG and damn I play assault 70% of the time!' thing. I don't see how knowledge of which gun I use the most or which map I play the most translates into me (or anyone) throwing out team values. Hell, make it so you can only access your stats as a supporting member, if your so afraid of pubbies somehow caring more about their K/D ratio over their support of the squad. This ONLY WORKS if you play on TG all the time anyway, so they'd have to be playing 24/7 on TG for the stats to matter.

Re: New private ranking system
Touche...thats a good idea man...keep it to SM's only. PLUS you can work the parameters any way you want. Make it as easy or as hard as you want....blah blah blah...it would be only for our paying customers anyway, and seeing that all our SM's are about teamwork anyway, id have to agree that it wont deter our much loved teamplay - and if it somehow did, bam, get rid of it (or tweak it). .02

We're not. We know you're a good guy Bhack, but we believe that having stats will lead to things you see on ranked servers that we don't want here. I don't think anyone believes that you value personal achievement over your team. I know I don't.

I think it's pretty cool. I also do not know why some people would say that you're trying to focus on personal rather than team objectives. Your reputation and actions in game shows us you ARE team oriented.

Re: New private ranking system
yah i think some are taking this post wrongly. no where in it does bhack say lets use this and see whos better. Hes just putting ideas out there to make things more interesting. Me personally i find stats push me to do better. Seeing what the tope score was and compareing to me makes me wanna be better at my trade.
You can have stats and still play with teamwork and objectives in mind. The score board at then end of each round that shows who did the best in what kit and squad are stats, and no one has said anything about those.
i like the idea bhack

Re: New private ranking system
I think a supporting member stat system would be nice. I'd like to know if I help my team better as a medic or as an assault. And sometimes it's just fun to look at what you did the night before. That's what I liked about the Halo 2 stats. I didn't care less that my rank was 15 and others out there were 40. I just liked being able to look at the recap and see how the rounds went. We can do away with the whole ranking system...just let me see my stats.
It's possible that maybe our TG developers could build on this ranking system and make it work more for us. For it to focus more on team work stats rather than single player stats. It would be a tool to help us improve ourselves...not see who's the best of the best.

Re: New private ranking system
Yeah this is a great idea, and we can just ignore any 'ranking' system. Having stats is not the same thing as rankings. I for one would love to see this on the server.

The part that I didn't favor was the mention of awards.

The EA awards and medals system is based on stats. I prefer the current TG BF2 awards system, which is based on nominations from peers. (How would a stat system be able to determine Conduct? Or Volunteer?)

Re: New private ranking system
I wonder if EA will try to form some type of lawsuit against them for creating a ranked community that is not supported by EA, which will eat into their server rental sales when people just drop them for this.

Re: New private ranking system
BHACK, I, in NO WAY, meant it as a personal attack on you.
You know I enjoy playing in your squad ..... you voiced your opinion about the ranking ...sorry "STAT" system and I voiced my opinion about it aloing with several others ... don't take it to heart bro !!!!!
If the community can run the stat system without hindering gameplay then i am all for it .... I just wanted to let it known that if it gets out of hand ..... then it will have to be addressed or you will see people going other places to play ....
I care about Tactical Gamers and want to keep caring for it ..... if we didn't care about it .. you wouldn't have seen such a response .. wether it be FOR or AGAINST it ....
Just my .02 cents bro ... nothing against you .........

Re: New private ranking system
BHack is a certificate whore. His refrigerator is full of elementary school and summer camp certificates...
as for ranking and stats they are two different things as mentioned above. Stats would be pretty cool to have if they keep stuff like vehicles used, KtD ratio, kit played time, weapon accuracy. Rankings tend to split a community cause then its individual competition for numbers,
As for awards we kind of do that already with ribbons so whats the big deal if we include them or dont. If we dont we have the ribbons. If we do we just have another set of awards similar to ribbons...

Re: New private ranking system
Bhack,
Just to be sure, I am posting my comments about "stat systems". Supporting it will not make you a bad team player and opposing it will not make me a good one.

I can see no potential harm in this kind of stats that may effect the teamplay. If that's what you meant by stats, I have no problem with it.
But when it comes to K/D ratio, revival/repair score, knife kills, etc I have a huge problem.
Questions:
1) Why player X would need this if he is not going to work on improving them?
2) How can improving his stats and teamplay work together in following situations:
a) He is assigned a mission to capture a base covertly, if possible without firing a single shot. Will he be able forget about his personal objective of increasing his K/D ratio or in the subconscious, carry that objective which will clearly contradict with the team objective?
There can be only one objective in this case, they are mutually exclusive ! In fact, they are totally opposite. His mission objective requires him to kill less.
You guys may think differently. For me, teamplay ENDS when "I" enters the picture. Stat likes K/D, revival, etc may be fun to watch and discuss, can make it a more interesting experience by adding something else into the picture but at the expense of what?

Re: New private ranking system
I would rather not have them but if we did I would encourage some type of system where you can only see your own stats. If the stats were public for each player than comparisons would start and 'missions' might be undertaken to improve certain stats to 'best' other players.
