Re: New private ranking system
im all for it as long as the admin stat of how many people they kick/ban is shown. Then compare that to how many people that are kick/banned post whiner threads in the forums.

Re: New private ranking system
I guess if the stats were trimmed to exclude those that might encourage negative behaviors this could be a decent thing.
The admins might also be able to use such stats to aid in deciding which non-SM to bump when the server is full. *shrug*
I can think of a wide range of stats that would be useful to have access to: time as a pilot, time in various roles (SL, CO, various kits).
As far as teh k/d ratio--- that's a tough one--- but perhaps if the K/d ration was expressed as a single number kills divided by deaths = X so you just print X rounded to the nearest hundreth or thousandth) then it might give an indication of someone's effectiveness without really giving them 'brag points' or any real way to tell how they can best tweak that number.
And you could further muddy the water by only expressing this stat on each kit and NOT give an overall stat.
I can think of a variety of ways that a group as capable as the admins here could tweak such a system to mitigate the problems that the point system causes on pubbie servers.

If it could be setup for personal use then ok. But it would have to be setup so nobody but you could see the stats.

That's the only reason i would like to see K/D. To see how I do with each kit. And if I could only view mine, that's perfectly fine.

Re: New private ranking system
I am going to hack the database and get a "hackedTGstats.com" domain so that we can all compare stats and stop playing as a team. I hope you realize your all falling into my cleverly laid out trap to destroy humanity as we know it (starting with teamplay at www.tacticalgamer.com).

I guess I disagree--- letting other TG members see it would not automatically be a bad thing. It might help you develop your in house team or find someone to get help from.
It's not the public viewing of stats that is the problem on pubbie servers, it is the nature of the stats they provide and the fact that there is no system that enforces team behavior. Here at TG the first problem can be managed and the second problem has already been dealt with.

Re: New private ranking system
I think stats never give a good representation of what you do for the team. Like when you take a bullet for someone else, or expose yourself to an apc to give your at a chance to finish him off.
The most interesting thing about this stats system to me is: getting twice as many weapons.
* You control ranks, score and other in-game ranking parameters.
* Your Own Private Ranked Server wich is capable to produce:
In-game awards, ranks and unlocks and Stats to appear in BFHQ.
This would make it possible for a player with the stats system to get all unlocks after scoring one poin for example.
If I am correct you could set up the system so that it would record stats on your servers only. That would probably not lead to an influx of pubbies, because they would need the IP of the stats server, and for that they would have to visit the site/read the rules.
All I am saying is, that i wouldn't mind being able to use unlocks on your server.
By the way, EA has officially (surprisingly) approved this project. But why approve this, but delist servers for having all weapons unlocked??? go figure

Stats BY THEMSELVES don't give a good representation of reality. However, as in life stats can be of use in making assessments.
For instance:if I'm in your squad and you notice that I always SUCK at driving the tank, you, as my team's SL and training officer, might check my stats before talking to me. If I only have an hour of time you might think 'gee-- he needs more time in that thing so he can improve' but if I have 9 weeks of time in the saddle you might take a differnet tack in trying to figure out why I suck so much.
Stats is PART of the equation NOT the end all be all.
As for your example: that shoudl be the exception as opposed to the rule. So over time the anomoly will cover the occasional anomoly. an example of an anomoly that might cover that is the time your one stray round is the 'last straw' that brings down a full blackhawk--- you get 6 kills-- but let's face it-- those aren't your kills-- they weren't even your target. Statisics are good for projecting a generality and generalities are inexact, which is why true assessment either measures everything (usually impractical) or is coupled with other data gathering/assessment methodology.

Re: New private ranking system
I can't imagine checking the stats of a squadmember to see if he's good in a tank. Instead I would push the voip button and ask them. I don't really see what your point is korncobcom. Seems a little far fetched to me.
And my point was that the unlocks are cool, stats have no use whatsoever imho. Although i like looking at them once a month.

Re: New private ranking system
I could see viewing others' stats as korncob mentioned for squad leaders of leagues.

Ah-- there's teh miscommunication---I'm not talking aobut trying to paw through stats while PLAYING. I'm talking about organized squads trying to optimize their team structure (and look for holes inthe other team). I'm talking about team management techniques. Analysis is not something to be done in the field.
Another useful stat: time/date a specific player was last on the TG server. Can help identify inactive players.

Re: Battlefield 2 Statistics have released their program.
Great....now servers will all be ranked in their own ways. We still don't need to use it, though.

Slightly off topic suggestion. I really like your page but you may want to make the text a different color. Even the slightest light reflecting on the screen makes it impossible to see.
