Mappacks
Would it be wise to install all 3 Mappacks when I have installed the game to my new computer tomorrow?

Re: Mappacks
I would advice you to install only the maps you need for normal play on TG if this is where you are going to spend your online time. I have a suspicion that punkbuster verifies all files related to the game(including maps) on client verification. The less extra material you have the less time this process takes.

Re: Mappacks
Depends on what/where you are playing.
You do not need any mappacks for Server 1. You will need the TotalBF2 mappack if you are going to play Tactical Mod.

3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

Re: Mappacks
Not to hijack the thread, but how certain are you of this? My verifying client data takes twice as long as it does to load and get to that point. I even have S-ATA 10k RPM drives and 2 gigs of memory. It's annoying.I would advice you to install only the maps you need for normal play on TG if this is where you are going to spend your online time. Re: Mappacks
I have mappack 2 and 3 installed and I haven't noticed any increase in the punkbuster verification. I haven't timed it, but I'd say on average the PB check takes 15-20 seconds. I can be in a map in under 50 seconds.

Re: Mappacks
So it would be best to go with Mapacks 2 and 3 then?

Re: Mappacks
3 isn't required because the only time it has been used was for supporting member night Monday Madness which was run on the private server.
So just installing mappack2 will be sufficient.Telorn

Re: Mappacks
Tzefanya: It is just a suspicion. I have a fairly newly installled system and the client verification process takes apprx 2 minutes. It feels to me that this has increased every time I installed a new mod. But I am not certain as there are too many variables that could influence on this.

Re: Mappacks
the best thing you can do to reduce verification time is to defrag after youve installed everything.
there will be a noticeable decrease in time. (was for me anyway)

Re: Mappacks
2 minutes? That's rediculous! Do you typically not get into the game until after the round start timer ends? I usually get in the game with 1:40ish left on the timer.

Re: Mappacks
I hardly ever make it to the game before the countdown ends. I am going to swap my harddrive to a new one. My disk is defragged and so is my swapfile....(annoying thing).
