New league / tournament soliciting help
Tactical Gamer is going to start a new league / tournament that is unlike any other. We're going to need some help nailing down the details, launching, promoting and managing the league. This is where you come in. If you have an interest in any of this, please email me, PM me or in the very least, respond to this thread. We'll soon have a forum group setup for the team to come together and get this thing off the ground.
So what is this new league / tournament you speak of?
The league / tournament itself will be similar to the board games RISK or Axis & Allies. The concept of these games is to capture and hold territories in a world map. Each of these games utilize the roll of the dice to determine the outcome of battles. Instead of using dice, we're going to use the various games (i.e. Tactical Mod, CSS, RO, GR, etc.) that we play here at TG. These are the games within the game.
That sounds like a lot of effort... and it probably is. The possibilities are endless, but we're going to start small and work with the Tactical Mod for Battlefield 2 as our first game. We'll create a set of basic rules, etc. for the first phase and then grow it from there. My hope is that in the end we'll have a framework that we can apply any game to this league / tournament.
So if this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, please contact me. You don't have to know anything about RISK, Axis & Allies, etc. I can get you up to speed on the concept. I'm looking for people who have ideas and want to help figure out how to get this rolling.

Re: New league / tournament soliciting help
Personally, I like regular meetings (a sunday night for example) on a server full of Tactical Gamers more than anthing else. You dont know which maps will be played, which side you will be at, which flags you will attack/defend and all these add to the quality of gaming time for me. I guess it is the limitations (map, side, CPs assignments) of the tournaments that I dont enjoy much in addition to the extreme focus on who won and who lost since I see no correlation between game result and game quality.
This was just to provide a feedback, not a sabotage to slow down a "tournament" or "league" effort
To help that one, I would suggest to collect as much feedback as possible from communities like World at War/Battle for Europe (A BF1942 Forgotten Hope event which is just like you described) in addition to our own TG league experience.
What are the lessons they learnt for these many years? How did they solve some very obvious problems (over-population, under-population, etc) Are there problems they couldnt solve yet? (Non-stop whining of the defeated side, accusing map unbalance/other factors and its detrimental effects on the community).
Good luck Asch.

Re: New league / tournament soliciting help
RISK is probably my favorite board game, I'm very interested in seeing an adaptation. Count me in!

That URL has been removed. We're not going to allow forum promotion of something we're trying to create ourselves. There's a conflict of interest there and if I'm going to resolve it I naturally need to resolve it in favor of those in this community working to build an event vs. an outside party.
