TG Movie filming this Friday night

This is tenative until tempus gets bact to me for shure but.....

Friday the 14th from 7pm to 10pm (eastern time) I will begin filming for the TG battlefield 2 movie on the private server.

I will need at least 10 actors able to use teamspeak and be patient while we work things out.
I say at least because any extra actors available will be used.

    Actors!
-All you need to bring is a little bit of professionalism and a lot of patience.

Like i stated in the other post, any o you BF2 admins who would like to help would be greatly needed (I will need one of you guys for team swithching and whatnot.... if you want to help throw me a PM so i know youll be there)

    See you there!

Cannot guarantee that I'll be there by 7; it'll probably be closer to 8. Teamswitching can be dealt with by turning autobalance off, but you may still need map changes or something. We can probably turn off FF and turn down the respawn time to make things easier.

Re: TG Movie filming this Friday night

couple of suggestions based on our 'film' sessions:

    1) have a story board - know what shots you need to take. I'd suggest having a TS session where everyone can brainstorm ideas about "ya know what might be cool". If you wanna do this in-game on the map, that might be helpful in terms of planning camera shots and really looking at the terain/location -- just make sure to focus on building the storyboard, not getting footage during this session.

    2) have one person in charge directing on TS. It's not a democracy, and having everyone chime in ideas (regardless of how cool you think your idea is) while your trying to get footage is no good. Actors should only really speek when something needs clarification.

    3) Have everyone logoff the server after each "take", or at least every 5 minutes or so... BR sucks in that you can't rewind... so later, when you're going back to edit the footage, it's a real pain in the ass if you miss the shot - you have to start from the very beginning and fastforward for 10 minutes until you get to the part you want to fraps. When you logoff the server, it 'cuts' the film - and you can then see/DL that session. Then have everyone log back in and do the next take... this way you end up with many short clips you can easily sort and edit, rather than one monster 30 minute clip that takes 10 mintues to FF the end.

    Whiskey,

VERY VERY GOOD IDEAS!!! super +rep, AWAY!
All your ideas are wonderfull and will be implemented.
Ill post some scans of my storyboards tomorrow (tuesdays are by busiest days),
so all actors can see what will be happening.

Also im thinking about a pre-movie teamspeak session on thursday night.....though ill post the exact time in here later.

******A side note. Anyone who wants to use fraps and then send me a copy of the footage will get cookies!

I will do the Fraps thing if no one witha better system can step up and do it. Most of my settings are on high during normal play, but when recording the frame rate drops a great deal.

Yea, I was going to suggest something like this.. but, shouldn't just restarting the map add another BR bookmark? If an admin is around, that can be done with either a quick chat message in-game or with the push of a button in BF2CC. Seems like it would also make rendering a little easier, so you're not rendering out a bunch of extra junk.. just make the camera path for whatever clips you actually want and only render those.

right - in case it wasn't clear, you don't run fraps while you're getting the footage... you run it after, when you're playing back the BR data.

I'll try to be there, but I never know what will pop up. I might also be able to run FRAPS, but I only have an X300.

OK, so let me get this straight - there is no need to run Fraps while filming on the server - unless the filmees' are filming the filmers', correct? Fraps is for capturing the BR data after the fact, correct?

    right...

open BF2, go to community tab, and you'll see a list of recorded sessions in the right pane.. click one and play it back.. you get full control of cameras and POV.

It's in THIS mode that you run FRAPS and get your takes... and you can run at a higher frame-rate because it's all pre-recorded - it's not doing nearly the number of real-time calculations (CPU anyway... It still has to render everything).

edit: to be clear - BR records the position of everyone on the server.. it's the state data for the whole map. So there really is no camera man during 'filming' - you're just playing out scenes.
