Official EA Community Update
I apologize if this has already been posted, but I didn't see it anywhere. Anyway, here's the offical word on a portion of 1.3. Enjoy.
http://www.ea.com/official/battlefie...yupdate_042506
Co-op is coming as is vehicle airdrops. Humvees from the sky should be interesting. Hopefully they will prevent abusive tactics such as blocking runways and what not. If not, I'm sure the TG community will.Community Update - 4/25/06
Attention Soldiers!
Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:
NEW FEATURES
* Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
* Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.
BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS
* Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.
* Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.
* Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.
* Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.
Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack!

Vehicle drops look pretty sweet, but I couldn't care less about co-op.

Re: Official EA Community Update
It would be really funny if the request was the only code they actually implemented. "Squad Leader requesting armor air drop at this location." And then the commander gets a new radio option "What do you think this is, soldier? Planetside?"

Re: Official EA Community Update
Vehicle drop is awesome, as long as it's something that can hold most of a squad like a heavy jeep. I can't wait to drop Humvees on stacks of enemies and squish them

Re: Official EA Community Update
Coo-op could be useful to in-house squads for practice if it's implemented correctly and they beef up the AI of the bots.

Re: Official EA Community Update
Vehicle drop sounds pretty stupid and I can't recall ever seeing it requested in a forum posting.. But, I've seen tons of requests to get the red-tag bug fixed.. Nice to see EA is listening to the community.

Re: Official EA Community Update
As far as vehicle drop goes, I hope the recharge time is pretty long (i.e. 5+ mins) to simulate more realistic conditions. But, I'm sure it will be the same length of time as the normal supply re-charge.

Re: Official EA Community Update
Bots might be nice to fill out servers too. Be ncie to be able to always have the maximum number of soldiers on the ground for the maps size.

Coop and vehicle drops? OMG! What new and great concept! Wow, why didn't they think of that sooner!
Oh wait, they did....it's called "Battlefield Vietnam".

I think Millipede will be playing as CO quite often now

Re: Official EA Community Update
I just want to give thanks now to all the commanders who will try to squish me when I'm sniper with a humvee in the future but instead end up giving me a getaway vehicle.
On a more serious note I guess this means the rumored patch details were true so we can expect squad hopping to be fixed as well. Maybe we should postpone the MA scrim until 1.3...would be funny seeing how they react.
