    Help bring in and teach those new TGers

    I've seen several comments about the population not being as high as it used to be. So I wanted to ask what is anyone doing about it?

    Let's get back out to those non-TG forums and tell everyone about the great community we have here. And then when we have new players here, let's squad up with them. Teach them about the TG style and get to know them. If you see a squad with names you don't recognize, join up with them. Get those LEARN TG squads going again.

    It's natural that players will lose interest in the game, lose time for the game, or find interest elsewhere. This isn't the problem. We need to keep a steady stream of new blood on the server.

    Now when you're out on those other forums....
    * don't spam!
    * follow forum rules
    * be respectful
    * don't get into flame wars
    * understand there are many who don't like our style. that's fine, acknowledge it and move on.

    We're not looking to bring in quantity.... we want quality.

    We need to get them here first!

    When BF2 first started here, there were about 15-20 of us. We recruited and recruited and more and more quality players started showing up. People sometimes move on to other games, or cut back their gaming, and they need to be replaced with new recruits.

    http://www.forumplanet.com/planetbattlefield/ is a good place to start, but I'm sure we all know of others. Just a comment about our gamplay here and there can yield results.

    I'm trying to get two of my cousins into the game with the eventual goal of introducing them to TG. I'll be on a lot mroe after my last final of the semester next Tuesday. Its kind of fun playing with the regulars, though.

    We were lucky to have 15-20 of us on together when we first put the demo servers up. I would also like to add that we were not only recruiting players on the forums, we were teaching them about TG while in the game. For the near future, try playing with someone you haven't squadded up with before. Get that teamwork going and tell them to visit the forums. Make sure to let them know what server they are on.

    I remember when I first squadded up with SmokingTarpan, I asked if he was a TG regular. He played like one but I didn't recognize the name. His response was something like "a what regular?". He didn't even know the name of the server at the time.

    Re: Help bring in and teach those new TGers

    i'm glad you all brought this up. I bought BF2 Jan 12, 2006. I had just gotten my computer and did not have internet access. i spent four months training off line. (internet is 54 dollars a month.) When i went on line March 24 i had version 1.0. I was quickly shocked that out of all the servers i visited 1 person out of 200 had VOIP abilities. I was also shocked by the punny unit integrity the teams had during games. Unity integrity should not really be used in the same sentence when discussing the matter.
    After about a month i thought i had made a bad choice to purchase the game. I decided to update my game in hopes of finding a server more compatible to my pallet. I was worried when my server selection was so limited after the update. However i struck gold when i stumbled upon TG. It blew my mind that gamers were this into taking something and making it so much more and realistic.
    Not long after that, the Tac Mod night started. i soon updated . The Mod and the maps are great. good by to UAVs and scanning for ever. I felt welcomed by TG inspite of squads locking their squads and not inviting F.N.G.s or noobs to their squad.
    That said, there appears to be tons of ranked servers. I can get on some of them, but you cannont talk to anybody (no VOIPs).
    I noticed two weeks ago on server 1 there were tons and tons of players that were strange to me. They did not have the |TG| text beside their name for one. Two, they did not have VOIP abilites when i would try to talk with them. it was like a field trip or something for those players.
    I have recently tried to change my name to allow the |TG| text before my name, but for some reason i cannot get my f key to work for crouch with my controls. I also like to use f for pooping smoke with vehicles. My old name allows me to do this but i cannot duplicate this with a different account, i'll come up with something.

    I read on the forum that server one is changing or something. A booster pack is needed.
    What are the correct steps needed to make this happen?
    Thanks again TG for making this a great experience. I have learned a lot about tactical combat, leading others and being led. Truely wonderful.

    On TacMod night 1stMIP usually has one locked squad and one open squad. The locked squad is really so we can implement things we've worked out and practiced together; someone not familiar with our SOPs would more than likely be lost, and we have to "water down" our procedures to make them clear enough to follow. Anyone who's ever played in a 1stMIP squad but is not a member hasn't truly experienced what it's like. I'd like to say that those of us who are not in the locked 6-man 1stMIP squad are normally trying to lead "LEARNMOD" or "LEARNTG" squads, however. I just don't want anyone to be uninformed as to why we lock one squad...

    I actually think there are two boosters needed: Euro Forces and Armored Fury

    I think they're $10 each, or thereabouts. I'll be looking into obtaining them as well, I reckon...

    When you login to BF2, you have the opportunity to enter a "prefix" of six characters. The text box doesn't (or didn't? maybe its changed) the pipe character so some people have used square brackets instead -- [TG]. But, |TG| is more "proper" and you can follow this guide to manually edit the prefix in Notepad so you can have |TG|.

    I've not looked in to control mapping at all, so I can't help you with that. But, you may want to check out a new program called Battlefield Cleaner that claims to be able to sync settings across accounts.

    Yea, lots of changes right now. The IP address for the server has changed. It is now 64.34.161.157 as discussed here. We're also going to support the two "Booster Packs" on the main server full time. Right now, just the first booster, Euro Force, is out. It can be only be purchased online and installed through the EA Downloader.

    Glad you're having fun

    Well pub raiding late night I think may/ or might help. We try to get good people that talk/listen to come to TG that are in our squads, hopefully it starts working soon.

    Hey guys,

    I try and check out different forums on a regular basis. I usually go to the SimHq forum and the Anandtech forums on a daily basis (Anand's software forum to be precise). There are usually at least one or two posts a week about how people are unhappy with their BF2 experiences. I usually drop a subtle hint like....."you should check out www.tacticalgamer.com. The best BF2 on the net.".... hehehe not sure if it works but it's worth a shot!!

    Rick, I've always enjoyed having you in my squad. You are very quick to follow orders and are a real "TG" player. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the word!

    Can someone else check out the thread? I just looked at it and there is white space where the IP address would be. Maybe something is getting filtered out here at work.

    The white space is probably the game-monitor.com image, which is showing up fine for me.
