    Announcing the return of the tactical minicamps

    Some of you may remember the tactical minicamps that were run by ABRA and his fine staff of volunteers some months ago. I am currently undergoing the process of trying to reintroduce these institutions for a new generation of TGers.

    The objectives of these minicamps are:

    1)To introduce the TG style of tactical play to new members
    2)To teach more advanced concepts that can be applied to BF2 S1 play
    3)To develop tactics which can improve tactical play on server.
    4)To build up a resource bank that can be used by any group wishing to set up a practice session in the short or long term.
    5)To build up a library of information to help with the above goals (see tactical library announcement and affiliated activities).
    5)To practice real world military concepts in a simulation environment (dependant on demand).

    The Minicamp FAQ is here.

    Going has been a lot slower than planned however with much more needing to be done than i realised. I think that the ground work is now sufficiently advanced to be running a few of the basic lessons such as "welcome to TG play" for the new members we are acquiring.

    Over the past month i have been working closely with the irregulars in their practice sessions both helping out with what they want to practice and also using them as guinea pigs for possible minicamp lessons. The experience has been valuable indeed and brought many hurdles and solutions to light.

    I propose a maintenance of this relationship but in a slightly modified form. The irregulars maintain their autonomy to practice what they feel would be most appropriate and minicamp staff continue to participate and look at potential additions to the minicamp curriculum. The minicamps themselves will be run as short sessions showcasing the most important and applicable lessons that have been developed and have regular refresher sessions for new people.

    I wanted to give the community a week or so before announcing a proposed date for the first session to provide feedback and opinions on the plan. This is also a time to get involved if you so wish. We could use extra volunteers for instructor positions and in organisation. It would be much appreciated if opinion could be provided. I hope this can be a valuable contribution to the community and perhaps draw us in some new members. I appreciate the feedback received so far from people like Tempus, Bubba and JCanavar and of course the hideous freaks that inhabit the 12th forum, who have helped guide the project so far. I hope this can grow into a valuable institution.

    These mini-camps help both the community and the individuals that attend. I noticed an increase in the quality of play last time they were held and widely attended.

    Kudos to you and your crew, JTH, for getting these training sessions reorganized!

    Great stuff. Thanks for the support, more volunteers always needed though. Some depth to the instructor corps will allow more flexibility in dates and curriculum so if anyone is still interested let me know.

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
    if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.
