Double-tapping W to run is the most inovative feature
I'll tell you what: double tapping W to run is the most innovative feature BF2 came up with, period! Oh, I'm not saying the other features are not cool. But seriously, one only had to play GHOST RECON ADVANCED WARFIGHTER to see how GREAT a feature Double_tapping is, and how much you miss it in GRAW... Damn! This SHOULD be integrated in ALL first person shooters, especially tactical games.
Speaking of GRAW, I'd love to try it out one day with fellow TGers to feel its real potential.

yeah, lol W is my primary method for sprint, I dont use shift
speaking of GRAW I dl'd the demo and wow my computer almost died I couldnt even start it up, I tried playing it and it completely locked up my computer, even on its lowest settings its still nothing compared to BF2 on its highest(wich I can only play on its lowest)

Yeah, I hear ya...
GRAW is a killer on the hardware. It's ridiculous. I have an ATI 850XT, AMD2500+ with 2GB ram, and I get 34FPS in the game at medium settings at 1024x768 and 28FPS at 1280x1024. AND the game does not even support true AA. So far, I am not really impressed.
Oh, and did I mention GRAW does not have VOICE COMM? I mean, how can a tactical game of today not have VOICE COMM? I would have thought BF2 set the standard.

Half-Life set the standard in 2000 by backporting voicecomm into a game that was two years old at the time. BF2 was the first large-scale non HL-based PC game to realize that voice mattered. Arguably, XBox Live has set the most recent bar for the voice-in-games olympics.
More topically, double-tapping w has its moments, but in general, I like the control the extra key gives.

meh I find shift to be in an awkward position, and when I need to get my ass outa there fast doubletapping is the most naturall for me

I never had a problem with double-tapping W to sprint. It works flawlessly for me, and I never looked back at the SHIFT option (or any other button link for sprint). On the plus side, it helps avoiding cramps in the fingers/hands.

I don't prefer Shift for sprinting per se... but I prefer it when I need to stop sprinting in a highly predictable way. Letting go lets one return to a normal run very easily.

I thought the unreal series came up with the double tapping to sprint thing...or maybe that was just for dodging. I might start trying the double tap W thing though, my pinky gets tired from holding the shift key.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
