Seriously.. I don't know what the delay time is but most of my time seems to be spent on "Verifying Client Data" which I have determined has nothing to do with your computer. It doesn't hit the HD the whole time it does that so it isn't punkbuster doing it's thing and a defrag wouldn't help THAT part of it... I seriously have no clue what EA is doing during that time but it sucks.... it has been up to 3 minutes for me to get in..

I believe that your computer is inspecting the content you have loaded in memory and is making sure that you have what the server requires you to have (i.e. you haven't modified your local files to cheat or something).

Nice thread. U know a C.O. has a nice piece when an arty strike hits like 30 seconds into the battle!!

I get on in like.... 30 seconds tops. Basically 1 minute and change is left on the timer.

While C.O.ing: This helps out a lot with those supply drops on the tac mod. lol.
I also use this time to look at the team layout and flags and such. I try to get a mic check on SL so as to get things going from the get go cause i can't use the icons before the game starts.

5MB on my internet connection 25-75 ping (i live in VA, USA)

I've been doing fitness exercises sometimes during loading, to keep my man-titties in shape for when I go on my super boatrides. I reckon with my load times, I'll more then make up for the time I spend sitting behind my desk here.

I estimate I take 1-2 minutes to load a map. The loading part takes way short§er then the verifying client data part. Guess it is due to the hard drive or the connection to it.

Whenever I'm In a squad and the SL leaves, I join the game and am the SL of a squad that is scattered all over the map.... Plz guys sto that. If the SL leaves don't just leave and rejoin squad until the guy with the slowest rig has entered the game. By then your team is very disorganized, and mmay have lost a crucial flag. On the other hand having the slowest comp laying around to provide a spawnpoint rather then as point man workes quite well sometimes.

I've thought about making a squad called "Lag", but we'd just get owned too much right.

I always like to announce my intentions to leave in the previous map and then wait until at least a few people are loaded before telling them again and warning them that they will either need to trust in the vagaries of hot potato or start a new squad. It seems to work quite well at maintaining continuity.

Good points Al. I think it is silly that this is the longest the game allows us to wait for the game to start.
E-Male started a thread some time ago, to get the match count down timer to take longer, but we found out that it is maxed out as is.

I hope that BF 2142 gives us more time. 3 minutes would be great. 5 would be more like it, but others would disagree i am sure.
1. This allows everyone to move around a little, take care of stuff, and relax a little bit.
2. This gives those who wish to Command more time get their assests charged up so that the match can start with assests ready to rock. (never have understood why, i guess the C.O. would bomb the enemy UCB when the battle starts)
3. This allows almost everyone to start the game at the same time.
4. This allows C.O. and SL to discuss their tactics before the match.

I hate to complain, but E.A. dropped the ball again with programing a game that could be super awsome instead of just awsome.

Should TG send a e-mail over to EA and mintioned the idea of having longer times inbetween matches for the lates BF2 patches. Does anyone know if they already have decided to make the timer longer in 2142?

It usually takes me 30-45 mins to load. During this time, I usually have time to call norcal at home and tell him to kiss my @%$ and then gra b a beer. I've noticed it's taking me longer to load w/the 1.3 patch though.

I probably take the longest to load out of all of you. Gives me enough time to grab a bite to eat and iron my clothes for work the next day. Multitasking at its finest

I can better your multitasking. I can often be found running a cordless drill while waiting to respawn. I always seem to have some gadget or kids toy to work on. They get queued up on my workbench as the kids break them. I guess that paints a clearer picture to my SL's who wonder why I don't respawn sometimes.

During map loads, I am usually pretending to be a good husband and father, putting in 60 seconds of face-time with the family while I grab a bite to eat.

Guilt is going to consume my soul one day.

How true, how true this is...but my wife and kids see through it now so the gig's up..

Takes me a minute or so for the next map to load...Typically they'll be about 1:45 left till commander election is done and the round starts.
