fewer kicks = increased population
hey - in the few hours i played tonight, i noticed that a LOT of people (maybe 15-20) got kicked because they didn't join a squad....
It might be usefull to change the limit from 60 seconds to something like 90 or more. It might also be a good idea to put a few spaces in front of the text so the PLAYER MUST JOIN SQUAD message appears a little more prominently.
just a thought.Last edited by WhiskeySix; 08-09-2006 at 11:34 AM.

Better yet, if you see someone that's about to get kicked and you have an open spot in your squad, send an invite.

Agreed on the 90 from just pure self-interest. In the low pop games I often switch sides to even the teams. 60 seconds "seems" pretty tight to get switched, run through the respawn timer, spawn and then find a squad to join before getting the boot.

might also be good to emphasize it in the server-info on the map-loading page.

How about increasing the text size? I know it can be done, I have seen if before on another server with warnings about team killing, so many warnings...

There are some adjustments that need to be done with that system for sure. I would support 90 seconds. Although most teamkiller griefers who join the server are going to get an extra 30 seconds before their mentally deficient butts get auto-kicked (assuming an admin doesn't catch them first).
I think they removed the ability to use large text in one of the patches. I'm not 100% sure though.Peace through fear... since 1947!

These are all good ideas.
That will be the first thing I do from now on bleak. Invive those not in a squad in.
The Dude is wise as always. The numbers you stated are very high.
One time I failed to join a squad and the reason was for a succssful kick vote and something to do with an Admin. This would confuss a new player to the server.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: fewer kicks = increased population
Definately needs more colors in the message and the server description needs to be changed to make the squadless kick more apparent. Right now it only says something like "Players must join a squad."
If you put it in caps and said "Players must join a squad within 90 seconds or get autokicked" it would probably have a better effect. Most people probly thing they'll get kicked by an admin if they don't join a squad and that there aren't always admins on.
I'd even go up to 120 seconds of squadless before the kick. Griefers aren't really a problem and I doubt an extra minute is going to change that.

I think "Players must join a squad." is plenty clear enough. We don't have room to add more anyway.

I can modify the script to include colors or larger fonts if someone can find out how to do so.
