1.4 to be released Tuesday!
Finally....
First of all, we'd like to thank everybody who has contributed with the Beta Testing of the Patch 1.4 for posting your opinions on the forums.
Your opinions and reports has been very useful for us to improve the stability of the client and server for this patch. Also, we proudly present “Road to Jalalabad” sponsored by Comcast, and the new server option “Infantry Only” which will give you a new dimension for the classic Battlefield experience. The 1.4 patch will be available next Tuesday, the 15th of August.
Also, on a new effort for supporting our community, we are pleased to announce the first cycle of our MODLight where we will check the talent of the community's mod teams. As a part of this, every mod will be tested and hosted on servers arround the globe for the player's enjoyment.
More details about this patch and the MODLight program at the beginning of the incoming week!

Omg..
“Road to Jalalabad” sponsored by Comcast
We should offer them Inishail Forest, sponsored by Tactical Gamer.

FROM THE TACTICAL GAMER PRIMER.
3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

Re: 1.4 to be released Tuesday!
Since I haven't seen this discussed yet (and it really should be a sandbox topic but hey), does anyone know the significance of Jalalabad itself?
There's really no simple way to explain this, but it's essentially the city Osama bin Laden slipped through on his way to Pakistan, and his escape demonstrates the lack of cooperation between the CIA and DoD.
The CIA was coercing the Afghan Northern Alliance soldiers to press towards al Qaeda forces while Pakistan was supposed to seal off it's border and essentially play the role of the anvil for them to be smashed against. The CIA slowly realized Pakistan wasn't carrying its weight in moving troops towards the border and implored General Tommy Franks to send in 1,200 marines he had less than 80 miles away. Franks declined, and never informed Bush of the CIAs request. By the time the lack of communication/coordination was discovered bin Laden had slipped past the Khyber Pass, into Jalalabad, and on towards the Afghan province of Konar where the trail was lost...
Here's a statement where Franks said that US troops were blocking that route, while in retrospect we know the job was "outsourced" to Afghan and Pakistani troops, even though the CIA was begging the DoD to get its hands dirty.
And that, dear friends, is the significance of Jalalabad...|TG-1stMIP|Coridon

I've never seen a CAL match before this. It was definitely surreal watching that kind of league play on the beloved Inishail, with bunnyhopping and AT infantry shots, etc. But it was cool seeing TG mentioned in it, and them zooming in and noticing the billboards at different times in the first map. The commentator liked the _____ (he didn't try to pronounce Bommando's name) School of Medicine billboard in particular.
