Any plans for an Operation Peacekeeper Night?

I've played this mod quite a bit now, and I feel many of the maps offer TG quality.
The mod offers at least 4 great maps, and new weapons, new vehicles, and new building models. Thes last ones are really great. They aren't very beautiful looking, but they do offer indoor combat. Many of the houses can be entered and this offers whole new dynamics.

One point is that most maps have way to many flags, but thats an easy fix no?

Up until now this is IMO the best total conversion mod yet (don't like prrm one bit personally). It's the only one with good maps.

    How mature is the mod?

I don't know, Tempus, what you mean by mature. I suspect you mean how bug free, how finished it all is looks. I can say that it's the only mod I've seen that I have recommended here. Some of the maps are really quite beautiful with a very realistic feel. Compared to Inishail, these map have mainly lighting wich is a bit uglier on my settings, but that is just a detail. Some of these maps definitly belong in a TG mappack. The maps are like 40% better than all other maps I've seen in mods like prrm.

The new buiding models they have are very cool, and they are the main reason I like this mod.

Balance is simple good, They also have a cool way of getting more seats in vehicle, which could be interesting for the tacmod devs.

    PS Killrog get these models!

I agree with BigGaayAl. The maps of OPK are really done well and are the real stars of the mod. They have tweaked the kits around so they arent the same as vanilla. The only real problems I have found are that the german attack chopper's tv guided missiles arent adjustable in flight and that armor is a bit too fast and lacks a feeling of weight (almost like when you tweaked the tanks on MNM).

It seems like the german weapons are better than the russian weapons. Little inbalance there I think. I like the german sniper, but the "new" svd or whatever it is called isn't so great.

It takes a bit of practice to get used to the serbian sniper rifle which I have come to actually like a little bit better than the german one. The G3 (German Support) is pretty dominant.

I haven't noticed too much of an imbalance on the weapons side, plus I think there is an infantry only setting. Let's get this on the server.

Re: Any plans for an Operation Peacekeeper Night?

Bump! Have other people checked this mod out yet? If so plz state your impressions in this thread.

I can't see why people are soo intterested in poe, which is hyped, but not out yet, while this mod IS out and has good and innovative features. I've played the mod quite a bit, and can spot no imbalance whatsoever.

All the weapons are very deadly. on all weapons accuracy is very good on the first shot, in all stances, with ironsights. Without ironsights, accuracy is reduced very much, although considerably less when prone.

This makes it very important to use ironsights, but this also makes all weapons deadly upto pretty long ranges compared to bf2v. These guns seem pretty realistic since some bf2 guns like the mp5 have rediculously poor acuracy at long ranges even when prone with sights up.

Bottom line, people should check it out, then reject it. Don't overlook the mod because other mods have better PR.

Ps: Look at how the poe updates thread
    http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...e-updates.html
has 10 pages of replies, as this thread has seven replies. I'd say that indicates good PR.

i've played it and enjoyed it.. didn't find the german side to be overwhelming. serbian AT is better then the german AT for instance.

the german spec weapon tree seemed a bit backwards.. a suppressed mp5? i'd have at least expected opticals.. ah well.

Re: Any plans for an Operation Peacekeeper Night?

Still a pity no on eat tg was interested in this. Personally I thought it similar, but better then POE. Haven't played the newer version though, since I've no one to play it with.

One thing they did a lot better then any mod is buildings. It has a fair share of enter-able and original buildings that provided good options for infantry players.

If people want to play this mod, I might get it again if some more TG want to try it out again. We could go pubbing. Post interest here.

Re: Any plans for an Operation Peacekeeper Night?

OPK isn't better then POE in my book.

    Things they did right:
    1) Some different statics like the church, stable and a fire tower that are cool.
    2) Target to Range in the HUD which I love.
    3) A couple of good maps.

Things they need to work on:
    1) Vehicles are WAY too fast.
    2) A lot of the maps are poorly conceived.
    3) Many of the weapon huds are overly cluttered.

I went through a bunch of mods over the course of a weekend and while OPK has a couple of playable maps, the other mod that has a lot of polish was Allied Intent (Cool weapons, poor maps). Between OPK, Allied Intent, BattleRacer and Pirates, there should be some Modness action again.

If we start up MNM again PLEASE give a big shout about it in the main forum so we get good turnout--I have found out too late the last few times because I didn't happen to go in the right forum at the right time; I don't have time to read all the forums like some people around here seem to be able to do. I know I'm not the only one!

Re: Any plans for an Operation Peacekeeper Night?

Glad to hear some people are looking to try different mods. I have no idea how opk is at all at the moment. Not have I played the latest poe for that matter.

Perhaps the MNM formula could be changed from the private server to a pub server of our choice. I have always assumed that MNM was supporting members only (and it is according to the forum). Making it a clearly public event might make the turnout decent, since the TG population for BF2 seems to have diminished somewhat.

I'll be downloading OPK in the next week. I would download all the mods, if only my us owned isp would give me (nearly) unlimited traffic volume, like they have in the us and most of Europe. Be damned monopolies!
