Proposed Scrimmage Type
Okay, this is the pre-pre-pre-discussion for a scrimmage I have in mind to celebrate the Christening of my monstrous new rig. I'm thinking of making it objective-based and this is how it would work:
The CO for each side would act as "scorekeeper". He/she would not zoom in to spot, and would only drop supplies, vehicles, arty, uav on request to the SL whose request was pending on the map first at the time the asset is available. (If no request is pending, no asset is distributed. It is up to the SL to call for what their squad needs.)
Each team would have 6 squads of 5 men each. A map with 5 flags would be chosen. Each flag would represent an attack objective for one side and a defend objective for the other. Add in an objective for attacking/defending CO assets and you have 12 objectives, 6 for each side. (You could also use a map with 6 flags, and either leave one flag neutral or drop the assets objectives. It could really be worked out in several ways. The point is that each squad has an objective against an equal power on the opposite side.)
An attack objective would be considered complete if at the end of 10 minutes, the attacking squad held the flag. A defend objective would be complete if at the end of 10 minutes, the defending squad held the flag. Same way for assets. If all assets are functioning at 10 minutes, the defense objective was completed.
After 10 minutes, the SLs report in whether they completed or failed the objective, the CO would make a tally mark on a chart, and give each squad new objectives, and repeat the process. We could even have someone on TS watch the time if it was too much for the COs to process. Each squad would get about 6 objectives, so basically they would rotate through all objectives on their side (hopefully rotating opposite the other team, so that they wind up against a different squad each time. This could be coordinated between COs beforehand.)
A word about air assets... If a squad had an attack helo at the flag they were defending, it would be up to them to man it or not. I would say that for the sake of this type of scrim, we not include jets/bombers. I just don't see an equitable way to distribute the air talent and keep the pilot to assisting only HIS squad. Although we could have one neutral pilot for each side, acting only on requests/spots by the SLs through the CO. All UCB armor would be first come, first serve.
Each team would have a winning squad based on number of objectives completed. The overall match winners would be determined based on number of lives lost.
Too complicated? Sounds like a riot to me. Anyone else think it's interesting? Anyone have feedback?
Kisses!

Re: Proposed Scrimmage Type
Sorry, I take a while to mull things over! I have considered it from the Squad Leaders perspective. It sounds cool, kind of like American Gladiators. The concern though is not enough action for that 6th squad to keep interest plus I think this would require much higher levels of organization than a normal scrim.
I'd be up for it if someone could get it up and running, offense, defense, both...
