Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
I lost the urge to play Vanilla BF2 over the summer when the TG crowds died down, but have since returned for POE2. But I have to say, I sure am missing the amazing (basically) TG vs. TG battles we had on karkand and other maps. Although I still like POE2, it feels more hectic to me with the deadlier weapons, additional armor, etc.
Anyone else? Maybe we can setup a TG vs. TG vanilla BF2 match night one day.
Edit: I added some screenshots I had been meaning to post at the (current) bottom of the thread.

Yeah me too. POE is way too fast paced. That's why Tacmod on Sunday was so good. It was great to slow down again and have time to actually think and plan or have time to defend yourself.

I miss Karkand, and the new road to jalabad, would it be bad if we put them into the rotation on the POE server?
As mentioned POE is a little to hectic sometimes.|TG-Irr| Red

Re: Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
I'm also finding that the POE2 maps arent as well designed as the vanilla BF2 maps are. There is a lot less cover, fewer choke points, etc. All those things made BF2 very tactical and fun, at least on TG.

I still want to try the new map on TG, but other than that, I don't really care which one we play.

Could do a "vanilla only night" every other week or something.

Re: Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
Here are some screenshots I've been meaning to post for a year... Takes too long to resize for the tiny 100KB limit
. Enjoy!
I miss the crazy battles we had, and then looking at the clock and realizing I had been playing for over five hours (and to top it off shrugging it off and going back for more)

Re: Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
ya those days were good...but were building new "Karkands" right now.
I love the battles we've been having on fallen. And you know what...the game play (read non TGers) is getting better...I can see it...8 months from now I bet someone will be posting something like...ya know...I really miss Carpathian Mountains...|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
I really don't miss Karkand. Mashtuur I miss a bit for its even and all flags usually fought over gameplay but its nothing I can't get over.
I think the reason people miss vanilla is because they either want to play city maps over and over or they try to play POE just like vanilla. Let me tell ya it just doesn't work. The more powerful weapons and lack of scan/uav should clue you in that your tactics should change to reflect this. Teamwork is absolutely paramount and each kit has to focus more on his intended role instead of the vanilla ability where almost every kit could play rambo. Attacking should not be linear or by rushing in without care...there IS a lot of cover on most of these maps and it should be used whenever possible. Defense requires some micromanaging from the SL.(mines out, AT's setup for armor ambushes, supports positioned in overwatch areas, etc)
Granted I will symathize with the lack of enjoyment on a few of the snow maps. Those maps are a bit rough since there is little cover. Some of the air can get a bit heavy at times too but its an evolving mod and these things may get corrected or perhaps down the line we may have icky work some magic if there is a real problem area.
Oh and I can't tell ya how much I am glad nade spamming is gone.|TG-12th|mantis

Re: Anyone Else Miss Karkand?
Just played a few rounds of vanilla, the change of pace was indeed pleasant.
