    TG activity on server, and when BF2142?

    Hi guys,

    I've been out of the loop for quite some time now. I used to play BF2 here at TG over and over again. Then I got VERY busy in RL with huge projects and decided to cut down on BF2. I miss the great games I had at TG.

    I still come from time to time to check on the activity of the forum. I sometimes look at the server status and noticed it has trouble reaching full capacity at evening times when it used to be full packed. I assume many have taken a similar route like me, or are simply playing something else while wiating for BF2142.

    Speaking of which, I didn't find any info about the release date of 2142. Has it been announced somewhere? I cross my fingers 2142 will be the follow up we need to BF2 so the community here at TG can regroup in new intense battles.

    Alright, back to work for me.

    right now POE2 is getting the most of the players considering its leaps and bounds better then vanilla. The Vanillla server has the booster packs and a couple map packs. From what i understand BF2142 will only support ranked servers so it remains to be seen what TG is gonna do
    that sounds like a good idea trooper.

    POE2 is where it's at so checkout the TG POE2 server at:

    As for 2142, release date is set for October somewhere around the 12th. It's still up in the air as to how popular it's going to be. Most folks who didnt play the beta are waiting for the demo. Anyway, check the 2142 forums here at TG for more info.

    Here is the deal as I understand it: if we want to be in the server browser in the game, then we need to run ranked-and lose all of our killer admin mods.

    We can run a server that is modded, but that will mean we lose all visibility as far as gamers at larger are concerned. We would all have to keep up a consistent effort to drive players to the server via our forums, external forums, and even advertising in the other games we host.

    Last I talked with Apophis, he was talking with Tempus about the situation. No answer as yet.

    Ouch, as much as I may want TG to give 2142 a chance, I think if ranked is the ONLY way, maybe it's not a good fit for TG.

    It's not the ranking, unlocks and points that bug me near as much as the loss of the custom scripts, etc which really take BF2 and 'transform' it into a game that starts to be more in line with the TG philosophy.

    I guess maybe Armed Assault is looking better and better to me as my replacement for BF2. Yeah, I know AA is more tactical and realistic then BF2 but I'd rather go that route then have us be FORCED to give up all of the customization for 2142 in order to have the server listed in the browser.

    Thanks guys for the info.
    I didn't try POE2 yet, so maybe I should give it a try before the arrival of 2142.

    I do hope EA drops their silly rules about ranks/unranked servers vs being listed in the ingame browser. I mean, what's to them if we do make minor modifications to the game to enhance our gaming experience?

    Anyhow...

    That seems kind of unlikely to me, I mean, why would they delist an unranked server?

    same reason they would delist a server with unlocks. Because it doesnt fit what they want to be adversited. And with going all rankd listed they arent loosing any money.

    But yes that reason mateo gave is the one im finding more and more as i read about it.

    If we are forced to go rank, will we still have the ability to lock our server with pw? If we could at least do that, might be having more pw nights would be an easier way to police the server.

    ....some how I doubt it can be pw'ed. (>_<")

    I think we are going to have to use password then? Or could we have the same server ranked some days and then unranked (unlocked)with mod script some days? Then people would know the server from the days in the browser which would be good for the reqruitment part and the other days we play more strictly the TG way.

    Is this possible?
