    Question Future of gaming

When you campare on-line FPS from 10 year ago the change is sick huge.
I wonder how long it would take for my ideas to come about?

I look forward to improved physics as opposed to eye candy.

Such examples include damage to buildings and such that last the entire round (an engee can spend some time working on getting these structures back up, should take a while to build a house again. lol) Another thing would be bomb craters that could provide cover from an approaching squad.

Another cool aspect would be seeing 132 vs 132.
Holy Cow, you would have one company commander and like three to four Platoon leaders that would be in charge of like 32 perssonel. (Cool to have squads ranging from 1-20 members!!)

Another cool thing would be to have a server that has real life time displacement. The admins would start the server and time would contnue and when they stop it, time stops. This would awsome for scrims and such. How tight would it be for a commander to wait to send out a major assualt as the sun is going down behind their backs. The enemy would be pratacially blind from the setting sun!!

Keeping with last idea, how tight would it be huge server that can process info battles and intel form two or more battles going on.
Meaning TGAlpha vs another gaming community is having a battle, and somewere in another part of the world TGBravo vs another gaming community are having battles at the same time. That would require TG to provide like 264 players for these battles that are taking place in real time.
Do not worry gang, the future of gaming is going to be so tight we will get that 264 with ease.

Keeping with the last idea, it would be tight to have a alliances with other gaming communites. You go to play a scrim (64 players from TG and 64 players form a community that are are allies) vs. 132 players that are the enemy, and the scrim starts and we are betrayed. so then it would be 64 vs. 196. on this case, TG would be outmanned 3 to 1 with their plans blown all to hell!!

A another thing that would be good to see will be improved map sizes. I am talking 10 mile by 10 mile (no scaan and UAV of course). Depending upon if your a recon squad or heavy assault you will play the game how you want to. (me personally would like to be a recon guy responsible for watching a valley and wathcing for enemy movement.)

Have players to radio in actual coordinates that they are reading from their topography map that the arty squad leader would need to compute and change the degree and set up of the arty. Same goes for mortor squadl leaers.

I hope with time, we can get out of flag capping as a means of who is wining the battle.
Task of taking over so much land (surface area of the map) once all the tickets are gone would be nice.

Another cool way to play would be like this: Stay with me now, this is going to be tight.
32 vs. 164. the 32 player team is defending and the 64 player team is attacking. If the 32 player team can hold on, in 10 minutes or what ever, they will recieve back up (another 32 players).
The attakcers could go for the knock out or play it conservativly and plan for the enemies back up by concentrating their arty or assaults else were or something. (Those persons who need to get up and grab a beer can play on the defense side and wait the 10 minutes to play {this would be me, who am I kidding, I'd seat there the whole time and listin to the Company commander so that when my PLatoon joins the battle we will know what's going on and kick some Sass.

Another, smooth thing would be to have like Flight of jets and such (Air Force way of saying Platoon I think?). We would need to do something about those damn hallos that the top gun can see. Of cousre they would need to land re arm and taxy and take off a gain so that they would not be sick awsome killers.
Nothing would suck more, than being a Platoon assault officer and your point squad saying take cover fast movers and then your whole Platoon gets carbet bombed!!! "You are the worst Platoon I have ever had the missfortunate of ever seeing." says the Commander

Another cool thing would be see realistic splash damage. (in the furture, more matrure players will be playing cause the games will be sick awsome)
One way to combat this would be having more realistic resupplying.

How tight would it be to have shovels and build a trench or a fox whole.

Furthremore, who tight would it be to have a type of map were you do not fight anybody but you spend the time building your fortifications and placing your arty your radar satillites putting explosives on bridges and setting up your snipers and recon personnel. Have your choppers all set up and locked and loaded.
When the timer hits zero you begin the fight.
You can very well make this a night map here is why. When the clock hits midnight, the two countries have failed to settle this with peaceful negotions, so the seize fire is over. Sort of like in Nam.

How tight would it be for the engineers to focus 90% of their time to fixing and building stuff. This would be good for those who A. like doing this. B. Have high ping C. Are bad shots. I'd see myself playing a role like that. Ofcouse a in-house engineer squad would be created for such game play.

Well those are just a few ideas i look forward to.

The best way to make this happen is to go easy with the eye candy and improve the physics and life like stuff.
However, eye candy sales games, not sick awsome realistic stuff. So it will take some time.

I am 27 years old, If fortunate, I'll be seeing this stuff manifest with the best and brightest gameing community in the world, Tactical Gamer.

    Have a good'n

P.S. feel free to post some ideas you would like to see in the furture of online FPS

Did you check out the Armed Assault forum. It is a more military style simulation as opposed to BF2 which I find more arcadish.

The one thing I would like to see is the time of day implemented into games. It would make night games so much cooler and constantly change the strategies.

I remember that good old Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising had a day/night cycle.

Why not screw the traditional BF2 artillery and have an actual field artillery team, hmm? Complete with Forward Observers and FDCs.

I think what you're asking is a virtual battlefield plus. I say plus because you mentioned building fortifications and defenses, which I think of something like the 2003 game called Savage.

But, what I think would be the best 'virtual battlefield for gamers' would be a version of VBS2 for the public.

Umm, I believe you are describing PoE2, the BF2 mod. There is an actual field artillery team that is needed, and someone has to operate the arty.

Over half the things you have described will be in Armed Assault, releasing next month. Here's the "official" wiki for it.

    Also, some good recent previews:

Enjoy. We have quite the group of tacgamers waiting impatiently for this title.

We could probably due this now, granted we would lose some detail and maybe some performance and it would require some major work. But I think it is entirely possible.

I cant think of how many times ive been sent to defend the crash site on fallen and wished i had a damn shovel to dig foxholes......theres no freaking cover in that whole area......

For that matter i cant think of any flag on BF2 that would'nt benefit from being able to build sandbag walls or mount a SAW on something.......cept maybe the bunkers flag on "spies".

I wish that the buildings in BF2 were destroyable. I am thinking of an episode of Bad of Brothers where a sniper was casuing trouble and they used an RPG to blow a hole in ins building. We should be able to do that. Is the enemy tank hiding behind a building? Blow a hole in it to get a shot.

or like in Saving Private Ryan when the sniper is up in the bell tower lookin place. And just as he starts yelling "RUN!!!!" it blows up the tower... that would be awesome...

    Re: Future of gaming

I remember years ago seeing bullets make little dents in walls and saying, cool.

Yeah, I wondeer when I can play a game similar to BF2 and see an entire house get blown all to hell and say, cool.
The building would be nothing but a pile of twisted metal and rubble for players to shot out of. Of course, every time it blew up it looked the same. Baby steps here. Plust the building would have hit points so that enough damage would take it down.

You would need to have an entire new type of Enginner to repair it.
    Bob the Builder. lol.

I can see a player fixing the same concrete bunker instillation the whole map, just to say at the end of the map. Yeah, they blew our last flags concrete bunker up 6 times, and we got our butts handed to us, but by grannies, that bunker was still standing at the end of the match.

    Talking Re: Future of gaming

You probably can't even image what it will be like in just a couple of years. I remember when 'King's Quest" was something special. And when 'Age of Empires' came out, wow! So tighen your seat belts and get ready to be blown away.

That would be cool, but I think half of us will need a new computer, lol.
