    Thumbs up Commitment to Recruiting

Tactical Gamer offers the best gaming experience of any public server, however this comes from growing and maintaining a strong community of TG players. We wouldn't have great servers if it wasn't for our players. This community is always in motion as new players become aware of us and as regulars move onto other things. The latter will always happen so we must all focus on the former.

In the past we've tried focused recruiting drives which have been successful in bringing in a handful of players. This does well for the short-term but can be draining on players and isn't very sustainable.

We also have regulars who enjoy squadding up with each other. If you're like me and have very little gaming time, a focused recruiting drive can detract from the fun of gaming. It can be tiresome to try and lead five fresh new faces and I don't want to lose the connections I have with the friends I've made here.

So here is what I'm proposing...

Each night that you are on the server, make an effort to welcome at least one fresh new face to TG. Squad up with them, let them experience what makes us great, and then direct them to our forums.

This does not require a lot of time or effort. If you're leading a squad, try to have one new face as a squad member. If you're in a squad with four other TG regulars, ask the SL to invite a new face for the sixth spot. I'm not asking that you spend all night doing this. I would wager this could be accomplished in one round.

If we get every TG regular doing this we should theoretically have anywhere from 50-100 new faces introduced to our forums. Even if we have a 10% hit ratio, that is still 5-10 new faces EACH DAY.

Eventually we'll hit critical mass again for all of our servers like we had back when we ran vanilla BF2. We're not there yet with PoE2 and no where close with PR after just launching. And once we've hit critical mass again, the process will only become easier. We'll have better game play, more regulars on the server to help recruit, the BF2 community will grow, and the TG community as a whole will grow.

So let's do our best to welcome the new faces to our server and EACH of us introduce one new player to our forums EACH night we play.

What can I say? <shrug> I got fans...

Edit: Lol @ eGoatboy...one of my favorite recruitment stories was when Mantis, Undead and I were pub raiding. We squaded up with a guy who was a good teamplayer and about half way through Undead shyly asks the dude if he wanted to take a survey that went something like:
"Hey man, I'm taking a survey about teamplay"...Mantis and I immediately knew where Undead was going. It was cheesy to the extreme, but it broke the ice and made it comfortable for us to talk more about TG. At some point we should get Undead to host a forum on how not to recruit newbies to TG.

Seriously though...Asch count me in, and count on the Irregs to continue to readily welcome new players coming to TG looking for some Battlefield goodness!

    Cheers,

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

    Agreed.

I'll put this as piece of standard procedure I will follow when I am in charge of a 1stMIP squad. Effective today, 1 slot is reserved for a new player. I may prefer to lock the squad to give a disconnected/team switched player another chance to join.

I'll continue to seed the server in the mornings( east coast U.S.A.) and help the players out and such.

A lot of good talent is making its way here.

I'm in and will always be in, be it through Learn TG squads I run, or reminding other TG squadleaders to let pubbies in.
